Hard Drive Unlocking Problem
« on: January 31, 2008, 12:23:00 PM »

I am trying to unlock my hard drive (I have the eeprom) but xboxhdm isn't seeing my hard drive. I'm pretty sure this is because my hard drive keeps going to channel 4 instead of 0 but I don't know how to move it to channel 0. Even when I unplug everything except for my hard drive and floppy drive it still stays in channel 4, any ideas?

Hi,

I assume you are using a PC with SATA connections.

The easiest solution is finding an old pc somewhere with the classic 2 ide connectors.

Even if you succeed in unlocking the harddisk, you will have problems using xboxhdm as it expects the
harddisk to be connected as master to the primary ide controller.

You could try the dostools to unlock the harddisk. The liveinfo program is a windows program that can give you the xbox hdd password if you select the correct harddisk and load the correct eeprom.bin file.

You can perform a softmod with the xbplorer360. It allows you to browse your disk contents once the disk is unlocked. You will need to alter everything manually. You can't use this method to create a new (bigger) harddisk for your xbox.

regards.
