Modchip Inside, But Want To Use Ndure
« on: January 23, 2008, 11:07:00 AM »

Hello there,

I've got a xbox here with the SmartXX-Modchip. I would like to use the NDURE 3.1 Installer instead of Slayer-Auto-Installer because I already used NDURE 3.1 (xbox hdm, with my eeprom) for my softmod xbox and liked it very much.

Problem is, I only get a dark screen when booting the XBOX. I've burned the eeprom on cd, unlocked the hd, rebuild from scratch and locked the hd again.

Any tips?

Yeah.
Turn off your chip. You can't load Ndure unless your bios is retail

Hi,

most modern modchips have an option to boot the retail MS bios. Some do it if you turn your xbox on with the eject button, for others, you need to press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds.

If you don't have such an option, you could desolder the D0 wire. That should disable the modchip.

You can also flash a bank of your modchip with a standard retail xbox bios. If you boot into that bank, it will be the same as booting without a modchip.

If you have a working softmod, you can remove the whole modchip. It is not needed anymore.

regards.
