My Hotswap Method

get a unmodded xbox with a blank hardrive, and a modded xbox with the Xenium S.P.ICE modchip in it. Do the upgrade hard drive thing and after it finishes, just stick it in the unmodded xbox. Would that work?

I don't believe that would work because for the softmod to work the hard drive has to be locked to the xbox it's in.

Hi,

you don't even mention installing a softmod. Or are you just trying to return the xbox to stock?

You could install the modchip in the unmodded xbox and prepare the harddisk in it. If it is mounted on a pin header, this is fairly easy to do. Just make sure the modchip contains the right bios. 1.6 and 1.6b xboxes need a different bios than the older models.

Like harvey12399 says, harddisks in unmodded and softmodded xboxes need to be locked. The locking password is unique for every xbox and based upon the xbox eeprom hddkey and the disk model and serial number.
