Ndure Soft Mod Error #7

error 7 means the hdd probably isnt working properly..  can you use load the slayers disk in your softmodded xbox?.. then you can try to copy the dash files again in E:\dash\ folder. Slayers installs dashboard in C:\\ drive so the bios cant see the slayers disk installed dash..

ok.

So i connected the retail 8 gig hard drive to my chip modded xbox and i was able to load evox using Slayer's autointaller.  While connected, i am able to use the hard drive with no problems.  I connected it to the soft modded box and still go to the error screen.

I connected my 120 gig hard drive (chip mod xbox) to the retail xbox console and i still get the error.  The 120 gig drive has evo and xmbc.

Could it be possible that the motherboard bios was corrupted or messed up during my "attempt" to softmod?  If so, is there some way that i could reload the bios?  It seems that the bios is not on the original drive, otherwise it would be picking up.  I appreciate anyone that has any ideas.

If i have to buy a mod chip and make it work that way i would appreciate any specific name and brand that i could buy.  Dont want to have a paperweight due to inproper softmod install.

error 7 is hdd time out issue.. its possible that IDE connector pin can be broken.. the softmod doesnt flash any bios to motherboard.. everything is in the hard drive.. it doesnt actually even has any bios.. its has bios patcher.. anyway if it was dashboard issue then you would be getting error 21, error 7 means xbox cant find the harddrive.

I didnt change the jumper settings on the HDD because the tutorial never mentioned that, i did notice that my 120 gig had it set different than my 8 gig retail.  I will try to change the setting.  I dont actually know if the error is #7 because i just go to the microsoft support screen with no number displayed, i was told that was the number.

I dont think it could be a pin because the HDD works with the other IDE cable.  Let me try changing the jumper and will report back.

I tried to change the HD to the master setting and still no Dice.  I can set the HD to retail version using Slayer's auto installer, i have a backup of the C drive on my pc which i could FTP to the HDD.  Can anyone tell me what file or what the C drive (retail) should look like as far as files are concerned.  I am thinking that i could possibly format the drive, install retail version, then override using my c backup.

I tried to connect my 120 gig HDD to the softmod xbox console and it didnt recognize it either.

CODE
I dont actually know if the error is #7 because i just go to the microsoft support screen with no number displayed, i was told that was the number.

error code is important because it tells you what kind of problem is there.. you cant just assume the error code..theres some inconsistency in your posts .. so lets get things cleared up:

1. you shouldnt be able to boot your softmodded xbxo's hd in your modded xbox.. since the hd is locked with different eeprom. It would give you error 06. If you can boot the softmodded xbox's hd with chipped console then it means that the hd is unlocked. so you should lock the hd using softmodded xbox's eeprom.

2. can you boot any burned dvd ( like slayers disk) when you have the 8 gig hd plugged in to the softmodded xbox. if you can do that then it means your softmod is working just the dashboard is missing. You can copy the dashboard files to E:\dash\ to fix that.

just lock the hard drive.. then you should be able to boot slayers disk in softmodded xbox. from theer its just a matter of copying the dash file by ftp.

I locked the hard drive, installed the default MS dash vias Slayer's autoinstaller, then i reconnected the HDD to the soft mod xbox console.  No luck, still go to the MS error screen and there is no number displayed.  I disconnected the HDD from my chip modded xbox and i see where the number is supposed to appear. So now i am really confused.  I tried to run Slayer's autoinstaller DVD on the box and it doesnt play it.

I am running out of ideas.  Can i just buy a no solder mod chip and try to exploit it that way?  Would be sucky to have a paperweight.
