Disabling Force 480p In Nkpatcher
« on: February 03, 2020, 01:45:00 AM »

I recently softmodded using Ndure.  Everything is fine except I discovered I can't play Panzer Dragoon Orta PAL (I have an NTSC box) while forcing 480P due to graphics corruption.  How can I disable force 480P?  Simply disabling 480P in UnleashX settings doesn't work as NKPATCHER is dominant.  The font size is too large for me to read the options in NKPATCHER after booting ndts.

in the more recent versions of nkpatcher you can make a runtime file with force progressive option disabled that overlays the current settings. Check your nkpatcher documentation

Disabling Force 480p In Nkpatcher

Thanks for the quick reply.  In config_runtime.inc, I've simply commented out %define VIDEO_FORCE_PROGRESSIVE, adapted dashboard paths, compiled, and stuck the .bin in /E/NKP11/.  However, I'm still getting forced 480p despite disabling 480p in UnleashX and MS dash.  Is something else overriding my NKP11_config.bin? (which is supposed to do the overriding (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

Hmm I've noticed that my video settings don't save in MS dash.  I disable 480p, but it resets itself.  Could this be related?  Also, my NKP11_config.bin DOES work, just not for disabling 480p.  It does, for example, change dashboard paths if I alter it.  I can't figure out what is still forcing 480p.

seems like your eeprom is write protected. Try setting a virtual eeprom

Disabling Force 480p In Nkpatcher

Got it working, thanks for pointing me to the EEPROM.  My solution was as follows if anyone else has issues with PDO on newer XBoxes with a mostly standard Ndure 3.1 setup:

I disabled 480p in UnleashX, then FTP'd EEPROM_off.bin to /E/NKP11/.  This was the quickest way to make my MS dash video settings save, as they kept reverting to 480p enabled after rebooting.  Obviously I then disabled 480p in MS dash.  Then I sent over NKP11_config.bin to /E/NKP11/ with forced 480p off.  Rebooted, and now PDO works.  This is just my third day of soft-modding so my solution may be 99% circumstantial and irrelevant, but it may help someone who keeps 480p forced enabled, but must disable it to play launch titles on a new XBox.

Thanks again.
