Anyone Know What's Going On Here........
« on: December 27, 2007, 02:28:00 PM »

Hi,

a softmod assumes that you start from a stock disk. Maybe some things got altered during the period you used the modchip.

A softmod is usually kernel specific and also assumes you have a specific M$dash. You might have checked the kernel version of the bios on your modchip. You need the kernel version of your xbox bios, since you removed the modchip.

That are the first things I can think of for the moment.

regards.

If so, Is Rescue possible at this point?
I don't have FTP and it doesn't seem to be reading Dvd's either.

Is it toast?

Like OBCD said, did you choose the correct kernel when you set up Ndure?  I remember reading a blank screen can result from choosing the incorrect kernel.  Since you've got a solid green light it sounds like you're not too hosed.

Can xboxHDM still see the drive if you hotswap again?  If so, try going through the ndure setup again and make sure you choose the correct kernel.

Just my 2c.  I only started softmodding last week so don't assume I know what I'm talking about  tongue.gif

Thanx for replying Col.
I might have chosen wrong Kernel.
However, not sure what to do now.
Can you give me details on xboxHDM and hotswapping.
I've never used either method. I have a stock hard drive.

Thanx in advance for any help.

Just follow textbook's pinned topic at the top of the board.  You'll just have to guesstimate when to pull the cable on the xbox since you have a black screen, but you can always try the CD-track copy thing.  The keystrokes for blank screen are in the Art of Hotswapping link in the above tut.  Good luck.

Another option is reinstalling the chip and using the slayers rescue disk to boot. You can take a backup of the xbox eeprom and ftp that eeprom.bin file over to your pc.

Eeprom.bin is the key to get your harddisk unlocked. If you can lock/unlock it on your pc, you can safely manipulate the harddisk contents until you get a working softmod.

You might try a kernel independant version first. If that's running, you can view your kernel version in most dashboards and you can install the correct softmod for that kernel version.

The files you should look at are ernie.xtf and xbox.xtf on your xbox c partition. Make sure you copy them over in the correct order. (Ernie comes first.) Although Ernie doesn't change, you need to erase and recopy both. (To maintain the correct order)

The slayers package also contains the stock M$dash files of the right dash to start with.

I do have the Eeprom.bin for my HD.
I found that among a really early Backup I did when I initially installed Evox years ago.
Is that a big advantage for me now?

Thanx again for all the help.

Hi,

with the eeprom.bin, you don't need to hotswap anymore. Take a look  at the tutorials that use the xboxhdm package together with the kingroach ndure. You can extract a slayers iso to get the original M$dash stock files. I use Qwix to extract an xiso. If you are able to use the packages, you can rebuild a disk from scratch.

Thanx obcd.
As soon as I get a little time to give it a shot, I'll report back with results.
