Hi,

not-softmodable, No.

1.6 xboxes have a different bios. They don't unlock the harddisk at the same moment as other xboxes.

Modern pc's have more problems to use xboxhdm. Some only have 1 ide controller.

thx for the quick reply.

i did the other xboxes (i think there were about 3 or 4 ...) successfully with the same pc i used this time.
does the kernel and/or dashboard version tell me anything about the xbox version? because the crystal has the exact same versions as the last black one i did.

Hi,

you can find tutorials on the net to determine your type of xbox.

they are usually based upon the serial number of the xbox and the vide encoder chip that is in it.

since you opened your xbox already for the hotswap, you should be easily able to determine the version.
