I looked for a better place to post this, but this is the best i can do so move it if you need to.

I recently tried to install ndure using the hard drive hotswap method. EVerything went fine and i got into the hard drive and the first thing i did was backup the original files using xboxhdm. Then, I tried to install ndure and it gave me the repeated "cp: read error: input/output" error. I shut everything down with the intention of giving it another shot. Well, UnleashX will boot, but there is nothing on the C partition, just the E: partition. My question is this: How can I get all the stuff I backed up first thing to go back on the xbox hard drive just like it was stock? I tried using xboxhdm to repair it, but it wants to install from the bootable cd and not from the e drive. Any help would be appreciated. I will check back often if anyone needs clarification.

Edit: do i need to copy all the backup files to an iso for xboxhdm?

quick update: All files in E:\backup are now ftped to my pc

Hi,

take a look at a couple of articles around here about the shadowc drive. Basically, you need to format the empty C partition and ftp the backup (stock M$dash) back to that fresh formatted partition.

With kingroaches ndure, you need to go into the ndure toolset (E:\ndts\default.xbe) and then you can see your real C: drive.

Dont worry, it's the shadow C, not a blank C partition.

You don't really need it. The only thing you need to backup is your EEPROM. Xboxhdm has everything you need to rebuild the C partition. (excepet the MS Dash which you can get from Slayers.) If for some reason you ever want to.
