nevermind, i found the answer in the topic right above mine, sorry wink.gif

but maybe someone could help me finding out what to do to get the original ms dash running on c (i.e. when i press the eject button)

i know i should not touch the bios folder ... what else has to be there to keep it running?
i have xboxdash.xbe AND xb0xdash.xbe in there .. that's not right, eh?

you should have these folders:

AudiofFonts
xboxdashdata.185ead00
xodash ( media + audio folders)

dont upload any .xbe files as they should already be there and modified accordingly..

Hmmm...my xbox dosent boot to the M$ dash either when i hit the eject or the power button.
It just goes to the unleashX dash.
Not sayin' its a problem or nothin for me cuz i can press the m$ dash option on UX to get there with no problems. Im usen 3.1
Is that option in the 3.0 version?

One more thing,i used option 2 instead of option 1 to install 3.1
dose option 2 take up more hd space then option 1??? Or is it the same?

i'm sorry i have to bother you guys again ... =/ i just can't seem to get it running.

i've been playing around with my xbox A LOT during the last few days, risking its death.
as i said before, i got this one for free so it wouldn't be the end of the world if i wreck it.
though i would really like to get it running and give it to my little brother as a present.

i did the hotswap again (for the 20th time i think, it's actually pretty easy ...)
and booted up kingroach's xboxhdm ndure disc. this time i decided to start from the beginning and
built a xbox hd from scratch. everything worked fine, it formated and prepared C and E.

i actually thought this would put my xbox back into its original condition (i.e. like just outta the box)
but the msdash wasn't there and unleashx was installed on E. i guess thats just the way xboxhdm does this.

my question now is: what in the world would i have to do to boot to the original msdash by pressing the eject button and to xbmc by pressing the power button? i ftp'ed xbmc over to E\dash as i did a few times before but it just loads up a black screen and keeps reading the harddrive from what i can hear.

any help would be appreciated. thx!

Hi,

you might start by backing up your xbox eeprom. With that eeprom.bin file, you can experiment as much as you want without the need to do a hotswap.

xboxhdm takes the stuff that was in it's  C and E folder at the moment you created the iso and copies that to your xbox C and E partition when it prepares the disk.

If you run the ndure script before you create the iso, it will alter the C and E folder contents so that your xbox starts softmodded with a alternative dashboard.

So, basically, you should start with fresh M$dash files (5960 if I remember well) in your xboxhdm C and E folder. You should run the Ndure script on them. Make sure you select the right options in Ndure. (Not the basic setup)

You can get the M$dash files if you extract a Slayers Iso. I use the Qwix program to extract Xiso's.

Ftp your eeprom backup from your xbox to your pc, and place it in the xboxhdm eeprom folder and the e:\backup folder. Make sure it is named eeprom.bin without capital letters.

If everything works out fine, you should end with a softmodded xbox. If your c drive is empty, it is your shadowc. Just format it and copy the c M$dash files over to it.

Changing the dashboard to xbmc is something you do afterwards. You ftp the xbmc package over to the xbox. It comes with a sort of shortcut. You can replace the e:\dash\default.xbe by that shortcut and the package should run instead of unleashx.

regards.
