it sounds like you used a gamesave and you can still boot into it
if so you can use FTP to fix the files  
whatever you do do NOT unplug it untill it's fixed (if you do and it's unpluged to long it wouldn't boot the gamesave any more)

you could try to rebuild your drive C and E partition.

you can extract the Slayers Iso. It contains the stock C and E files. I use Qwix to extract a xiso.

you should put those stock files in the xboxhdm c and e folder before you create and burn the linux iso.

if you manage to boot your xbox back to the M$dash, than take a look at the Kernel version of it.

I think the best package for a softmod that way is the kingroach ndure 3.1. It just came out a couple of weeks ago. I haven't heard any reports of bug's yet. If you use a Kernel specific font, make sure you select the correct kernel version.
