Hi,

most of the time when I hear about this error, people are connecting their cdrom as slave device on the same cable as the xbox harddisk. The reason they do it is because they only have 1 ide connector on their motherboard.

The error usually occurs when they run the lock / unlock command of the harddisk.

If this is your case, you could try to lock/unlock your harddisk with the dostools running from a floppy.

Just be carefull that you don't mistype the password. Xboxhdm sets a Master password that can be used to unlock the disk. The dostools don't do this. Don't lock the disk with the eeprom unique hddkey. You need the hdd password.

sorry for double posting couldent find and edit button...can i boot xboxhdm 1.9 on a usb drive and use it just like if i were using the cd?

Hi,

it is possible to use a USB drive. I have never done it, and I know it's not that easy. The Xboxhdm linux distribution has no buildin support for USB drives (I think) I also believe that it is based upon 2 different linux kernels and that another kernel is booted when you are planning to use the locking and unlocking tools.
I am sure you will find more about it on these forum. It is all very linux specific stuff, and that's not my speciality (due to lack of time.)

you can boot it but it wont work.. all the scripts in xboxhdm looks for file in very specific location ( CDROM)... if you want to use it with usb drives, then you need to edit all the scripts..but you can use usb drives with xboxhdm
