I Have Eeprom.bin, Can I Softmod My Xbox Via Hdm Alone?
« on: August 21, 2007, 12:22:00 AM »

My box used to have a xenium, until the chip died.  As a result, I know my hd key and I have the eeprom.bin.  Via the magic of XBOXHDM, is this enough to softmod my xbox?  Can I forego a purchase of Mechassault and an Action Replay alltogether?

Sorry if this question is nooby!

Hi,

yes, you can forget about all that. You don't need to hotswap either. All you need is the xboxhdm package and the kingroach ndure package. It has a option to use it together with xboxhdm.

The gamesave exploits are used to softmod a xbox when you don't know the eeprom.bin. You can softmod your xbox with them without opening it.

regards.

Fantastic!!!  My (now) unchipped xbox currently has my old 330 gig HDD in it.  Its locked, and the machine runs perfectly, even though its chipless.  My question is: When I use xboxhdm, if I chosse "option  2: rebuild C-partition on existing Xbox-drive", will my precious data on my F and G drives be left in tact?

Thanks for reading and replying obcd!

Here's a cheaper way to do things.

take KingRoach's NDURE softmod installer via XBOXHDM

Put your eeprom.bin in the /linux/eeprom/ folder, and compile your disc.
(you may also take a modded xbox, and use the C drive and where ever the Dash might be in(if not protected virtually) and compile your own disc.

Example.

Xbox Modded with Krayzie's

C:\ (when exploit is not running, preferable boot gamesave or a NKP that doesn't mount virtual C partition)
copy all files from this drive, including the huge 300mb file called "shadowc.bin"

from E:\

just copy E:\Dashboard\ folder

now copy what was in C to C in the xbxhdm compilier folder and same for Dashboard will go in E, your eeprom.bin in the eeprom folder and make your iso.

if your experienced with xbxhdm, than you know the next procedures.

1.- xbox hdd in IDE0 or 1, which ever is the lowest number (Primary Master)

2.- boot your xbxhdm linux disc

3.- unlock your hdd with "unlockhd -a"

4.- reboot pc, and run the default option to rebuild drive.

5.- this is where it be tricky, cause you can just rebuild your C, but no dashboard will be copied and you have to do that manually with xplorer (copy disc\E\Dashboard\ to hdda:\partition1\ (E:\))

5b.- you may choose to make xbox hdd from scratch but that will delete all your gamesaves and anything you might have there.

6.- after you've installed the files you have to lock your HDD like you unlocked it but with this command: "lockhd -a"

7.- put your xbox back together and continue, and you should be fine.

QUICK EDIT: F and G will not be affected at all; you are asked to format F, but you don't have to, and G is not supported by XBXHDM

Thanks again.  When using Roach's Ndure 3.0 I guess I should tick the NKpatcher options for F and G, right?

edit: the hdd in the machine had an F and a G, so I'm assuming so.  Actually, it seems pretty obvious that I need this, sorry for asking such a dumb question!   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)
