Softmod Problem
« on: August 08, 2007, 02:43:00 AM »

SO this is the problem....My friend softmodded my other friends xbox (not backing up any files),  and few months later he decided to delete some items on the xbox.  After that apparently all the features of the softmod  stopped working (my immediate reaction was oh his xbox was done for) but he was still able to play all of his retail xbox games.  Until a few days later where his xbox stopped playing games and now it goes to an error screen and the green/red blinking lights.

My basic question would be what do you think he deleted off his xbox that would cause his xbox to react this way?
(Keeping in mind that he was still able to play games, for a little while.)

Was it the eeprom, or something else?

*Sorry the information i'm giving is so plain, i'm still a new at this.

I'm assuming you did the softmod because you said "my friend softmodded my friends xbox" everyone immediately tries to offload blame.

I can't think of any files that he would delete and stop working over time.  Usually you delete a file and it doesn't work.  Not delete a file and wait 3 months for it to stop working.

Just find out the error number and work from there.  You'll probably have to rebuild the hd with xboxhdm.

error #16 - clock cannot be set

you can run games for a while until you loose power to the Xbox, then it tries to reset the clock and cannpot finds those files so it Frags and gives you error #16

Fix it with a modchip or hotswap

I thought you need the eeprom to hotswap.

Can anyone give me a link to any hotswap tutorials?

Try looking at pinned topics for a link. And you need to hotswap when you DON'T have the eeprom. If you DO have the eeprom you just simply hook it to the PC rather than having to have everything running and swap stuff out.
