Error 7 generally means the HD is dead, but I guess it isn't since you hotswapped with it.  But without a modchip the xbox cannot use an unlocked hard drive, so locking it with the xbox is out of the question, lock it with xboxhdm or something.

error 6 and 7 i get an error 9 when hdd is in slave but i cannot access it on my pc cause the whole need to be in primary master.

thats what i am trying to unlock it with....everytime i boot up normally its error 6 so that means the drive is locked and cannot be unlocked, i looked up my HDD and its on the list as lockable/unlockable i use to get error 12 when i booted up with the dvd ide unplugged but not anymore....if i format the HDD and start over again will that work?

Hi,

you will need to unlock the harddisk before you can reformat it. The locking / unlocking functionality has nothing to do with the contents of the disk. When it is locked, you can't even reformat it.

What procedure did you use to lock the disk. I think you made a mistake in it somewhere.

Error 6 means that the drive is locked with a wrong password. The xbox tries to unlock it, and it doesn't unlock. That's why it gives you the error 6.

regards.
