I've never hotswapped, but I do understand it for the most part.

But are you sure your pulling the IDE cable out at the correct time? In the hotswapping FAQ/guide there are a few tricks that will make it easier (think maybe pulling the IDE from the DVD makes unlock, and maybe something about running a music CD IIRC)

Someone with more hotswapping experience can probably offer more, but if it's saying it's locked, it probably still is.

Oh, and belongs in the "XBE Exploits" section as it's not a gamesave, moving...

I found a solution to the problem. I found out that when it said my hd was locked, it was literally "locked" so i unplugged the power cable from the dvd drive and turned on the xbox. the split second before error 12 came, i unplugged the ide cable from the hd and plugged it to my pc. It worked!!
