Hi,

yes, others have tried this to, and a lot of them end up in this forum.

It looks like the xboxhdm cd is running fine until you try to lock the harddisk.

So, you will need a alternative way to lock your harddisk.

The LiveInfo program (for windows) can calculate the HD password from the Eeprom HDDKey
Just make sure you select your xbox harddisk in the IDE Device field. Click into the field and hit the enter button to get a list of available harddisks on your computer. The dropdown button doesn't work on some OSes.

There are dos tools that can lock and unlock your harddisk. Look for atapwd.zip and hddunlock.zip.

These tools don't set a Master password on your disk. If you make a typo, or lock your disk several times, not being carefull with the password, you will be unable to unlock the disk afterwards. Don't blame me for it, you are warned. Make sure you fully understand what you are doing before you attempt to lock your harddisk.

If you don't have a floppy drive, you might try to create a bootable USB stick. HP has a tool to do this.

check for cp006049.exe

it can use a bootable floppy image and transfer it to a USB stick.

If you have other troubles besides the locking and unlocking of the harddisk, please let us know. Maybe someone can use that information to create a good tutorial about how to solve those issues.
More and more modern pc mobo's come with only 1 ide controller.

regards.

Sorry,

I had missed the hotswap part.

You could get your xbox Eeprom contents on 2 other different ways:

1. With a modchip. You will only need it temporary to get the Eeprom content.

2.With a Eeprom reader. Check this article.

does your bios have option to disable SATA controller?.then turn it off. you should have the xboxhdm in the slave ide port always and xbox  hard drive in the first port..

I succesfully hotswapped with a single id eport in an ASRock motherboard. So, it might be motherboard or particular controller issue. I suggest burning another copy of the xboxhdm and trying again.. one more thing you could do is that, hotswap the xbox harddrive and connect it to computer ( sata/ide port) and access the hardrdive using xplorer 360. (http://www.360gamesaves.com/). From the xplorer 360 you can copy softmod files directly in the xbox partitions. If your hard drive locked then windows will take a lot of time to boot and if its ulocked windows will boot as normal.

Xboxhdm Hotswap On A Single Ide Port Or With Sata Dvd Rom Drive

Hi

I am having the same problems as well, I only have one ide port, ive trying all differrent jumper setting, turning off sata controller. etc, after i swap xboxhdm will boot, but then  i type xbrowser, or xboxhd, its gives me "cannot find linux cd  error"

I am now trying to hotswap with xplorer360, ( im getting error 12 when i boot my xbox) and my pc will recognize the hard drive, but when i open xplorer it gives "cannot find fatx drive error"

I've looked through the forums at 360gamesaves, ( they've said to update the  memory drivers for xplorer, i tryed that but it didnt help) also they dont really have any thing about hotswaping the xbox 1

any help would be greatly appreciated.
