(IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif) ok i tried to mod my friends xbox with ndure and unleashx but durring the process i f'ed it up somehow.  i think i put the wrong kernel version in there but that is just a guess.  is it still possible to get the eeprom off of the xbox if i cant find a way to mod it?

You can build an eeprom reader, or install a modchip.

I believe you can still hotswap the drive though and you could put the correct files on this time. Guessing you used Ndure via XBOXHDM?

i did use Ndure via XBOXHDM.  and i have been looking for a tutorial on how to make and use an eeprom reader but have not been successful.

i just spent a lot of money on my xbox so getting a modchip is kinda out of the question. so i guess my real question is can i just redo all of the steps that i use to mod it in the first place.

also where might i find a tutorial on eeprom readers that would actually be helpful to me?

what kind of error do you get when you boot the xbox?..

I once had that problem, but my TV would stay black. All I did was re-do the NDURE via hdm procedure. With the right kernel of course.

NOTE: BEFORE YOU READ MY POST, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, FOLLOW WHAT I HAVE DONE HERE. IT IS DANGEROUS, STUPID AND MAY RISK FRYING YOUR EEPROM!

BUTTTT don't be scared about building the eeprom reader. it is REALLY easy. the parts cost me $1.20, and i used crocodile clips for EVERY connection, minus the connection to the eeprom, where i just stuck the wires into the holes in the LPC pad. you should solder everything, but my soldering iron is broken. so being very stupid, i just used crocodile clips. and it worked. watch out with ponyprog though, MAKE SURE the file that it saves it 256 bytes. i had MANY successful reads, but ponyprog doubled the file size somehow (even though it said 256 bytes successfully read), and the eeprom.bin file was obviously corrupted. it must be 256 bytes in size when saved! once you got this, you can load it onto the xboxhdm cd or a floppy and lock and unlock the hard drive from there. saves you hotswapping as well!
and like i said, i do not advise you, and i also warn you NOT to do what i have done here. but feel free to laugh at these pictures!

hey thanx for all the help everyone.  i think ill try to just keep using ndure and unleashx and if that dont work then ill just make an eeprom reader, but not with alligator clips lol.

oh and there was no error message so i just figured it was the wrong kernel version ill keep trying and post more if i have any problems

ok so i decided to try different kernel versions b4 anything else right.  and now when it starts up it has the word "M$" under the splash but the LED turns orange (or yellow in my case) and the screen goes and stays blank.

does that mean its the wrong kernel version still or did i f it up even more?
