Retail Dashboard Error
« on: February 24, 2007, 10:44:00 PM »

I softmodded my xbox (k5838, d5960) using xboxhdm 1.9 and Ndure 3.0 and then discovered that in order to use the the higher resolutions when playing videos in Xbmc, I needed to enable the appropriate resolutions in the M$ dash. If I understand correctly, the m$ dash settings don't save permanently with the security provisions of shadowc.

Well, before I noticed the options of using the shadowC_off.bin and EEPROM_off.bin, I attempted to use option 2 of Xboxhdm to "rebuild c-partition on an existing xbox-drive", which I thought would reinstall the retail dashboard again so that I could reinstall the softmod from scratch correctly. Xboxhdm carried out its routines with no error messages, but it did not reinstall the original dashboard, I'm assuming because the c-drive was protected. Ah, the joys of learning a new system!!!

Well, the resolutions are still unavailable in xbmc since I haven't updated the m$ dashboard correctly, and now additionally the m$ dashboard is not loading correctly within UnleashX.

I believe that I probably will need to use Slayers EvoX to copy the original dashboard into drive C with EEPROM off such that I can start over.

Can anyone confirm if this is the correct way to get things straight? Please be aware that I rely on xboxhdm as I do not use a modchip or savegame exploit. Any help is greatly appreciated!
