darn.. i now accidentely overwritten the e:/backup directory on 1 of the xbox's.....  I wanted to restore backup but i selsected create backup...
Now when i selsect restore backup i get some errors saying it cant create/remove files on the xbox drive...
Any tips on howto restore this xbox drive? (or at least get the softmod working again)

Got this one working again after few times using option 1 installing Ndure.

it is a well know problem that happens when the one or more of the MS dash
support files are missing/corrupt (the clock is unset and the softmod tries to run the MS dash to set it)
you should remake your master disk (using good MS dash files) and replace the ernie.xtf with the one from my sig/link it will set the clock 15 sec before the tested time and if the MS dash files are still messed up then after a  reboot 15 sec then would have elapsed and now it will pass the time check and boot to the softmod dash

delete the file when done

E:\shadowC_off.bin should work if you used NDURE 3.0
you can allways run the NDURE tool set to do the same thing
you may need to hit "refresh" in your FTP program

Any one got a solution to this? I unshadowed the c drive, but what do i do now to make the xbox not give an error 21 when it wants to ask for the time. (When the xbox was off the power for a long time)
The ernie.xtf file was the same size as the one already in there.... (so i suppose they are the same file)

edit: When booting this xbox with eject button i get an error 21. Is it supposed to go to the original xbox dash? (and if it boots to the original xbox dash with eject, does that mean everything is ok, and i won't get an error 21?)

again fix the MS dash files that are on the real C:\
it should ether boot the MS dash or the Xonline dash if you have a file named boot1.bin in the root of E:\ (any size including 0 bytes)
once you have everything working FTP the unshadowed C to your PC and use it as a master for softmoding
(if you used non kernel specific fonts)

true, but the time will still be unset (ernie.xtf sets it and it is not invoked untill it boots into a modded state)
if you used the old ernie the time will auto set to 2004, new one will set to 2006/7/7
the time check is at 2006/7/7 + 15 sec so you could have problems if you used the old ernie
when booting with a unset clock and bad MS dash files

the best way to test your setup
1 rename boot1.bin to somthing else (so it boots the MS dash)
2 boot with tray open set time to 2002 (make sure to press the green button when done)
3 reboot with power button
if everything is good it will go to the clock setting screen in the MS dash... otherwise reboot with tray open set the clock, reboot and fix the files

Thank you all for your support. I fixed the files on the xbox wich booted to error 21 with ejectboot.
And thank you for the information on the ernie file, i now understand how it works.
