This is a stock xbox I picked up the other night
Using a tutorial about a page back in this same forum, i threw avalaunch onto a xboxhdm cd, burned it as an iso, hotswapped the xbhd to the pc's prim. ide, and whoala -> i managed to get to xbrowser.
Sitting there clueless as I wasn't sure wtf i was even in xboxhdm for or if this was a step in the right direction to installing the new dashboard, i went ahead and backed up the xbox's c and e partitions, and not being too sure of how i should go about installing avalaunch (for instance, is this all i have to do? overwrite the original dash files with all of this avalaunch crap?) i didn't touch shit.
I backed out of xbrowse, went ahead and rebuilt the c partition for the xbox. After all of this, still confused as ever, i went back to xbrowser where i figured i should reconnect the pc's ide drive and have a look at some more forum and tutorial reading so i can figure out where the heck i am. Somehow, I managed to hit 'f4' on complete accident, and got a black screen with a long list of underscores on the left side waiting to be filled with characters. Didn't know how to get out of it, or even what it was, so i ctrl+alt+del'd the machine and restarted, and upon restart, i couldn't access xbrowser (first thing i tried btw).
It detected the drive fine, just couldn't find the partition or something like that. I also couldn't rebuild the c-partition (option 2) (it said 'disabled').
Upon booting the reconnected xbox i am getting error code 13, which i've read to be a dashboard failure. I'm not sure how i'm getting it, as i didn't edit the dashboard files (or ANY files for that matter, besides backing up the orig files as described to me in a guide found in this forum (bout a page back). Also, it is notable that I can still load up games, but that I cannot connect to xblive (for instance, from halo2's menu), which I heard was a sure-fire method of restoring the original M$ dash. So um, where am I, and how can I fix this?
