First, I'm totally new at this stuff - spent the last two days reading all the tutorials and thought I had it.

I bought a modchipped xbox a while ago with Executor X3, and now want to softmod my 2nd virgin xbox.

I hotswapped the virgin xbox with my modded unit, and then with FTP got access into the virgin HDD and did a complete backup.  At first, my virgin had 4034 kernel and 4034 dash.  I tried the bert/ernie stuff though I could not find the fonts directotry or the update.xbe files - I realised I needed an updated dash.  So I put in a game that uses Live and had Live update my dash, which it did to 5920.

I then got back into the virgin HDD, renamed the xboxdash.xbe to "old", copied the update.xbe (was 2260992 bytes) file to xboxdash.xbe in the root directory.  The problem was that the tutorials say to use the bert/ernie file based on the size of your update.xbe file - none were for my size.  I then read that a patch exists that will create a new s?? file.  I do have this patch, which is s2260992-1994752.exe.  I tried to copy the update.xbe to my PC in the same directory as this patch and then executed it - it did nothing.  Also the weird thing is that when I copy with ftp the update.xbe file to my PC, the file size is zero in the PC though 2260992 in the xbox???   Am I suppose to run the patch in the xbox - I guess I can copy the patch into the xbox where the update.xbe file exists and execute the file within the xbox through ftp - will this work??   If it works, I understand it will create a new s?? file - do I rename this to update.xbe or to xboxdash.xbe??

Lastly, I have two different font exploits and instrcutions.  One is for bert and ernie files and the other for bert_ate_ernie.  Which is better to use???
