Awesome, thanks. I actually got the xbox broken, read the EEPROM with a custom reader, and built a new HDD with xboxhdm and the softmod files. They are just files that do not have an installer you just can FTP them in or in my case use a program to format a blank HDD with the C and E drives.

Works perfect. I put "Shademands Ready Made Softmod" on my C and E (a freshly formatted C and E) and loaded it up and it worked fine. Then popped CASH in and formatted and installed Ndure just fine. It's definalty safe to use with it. Sorry to take so long to get back to you, took me a while to get the files then go over them.

Just follow this section of the manual "How to use this disc with an Old softmod" on page 12.

BTW, Shademands softmod is a joke. I remember seeing him spamming it all over the forums here a few months ago and posting links to it. I can't even believe he calls that a softmod. Basically he softmodded his XBOX with SID (probably 1.0 from the looks) and put a shitload of programs on it (most aren't really needed at least by most ppl, even lots of hardmod ONLY programs) then just copied his C and E drive and calls it a softmod. At the least I got a good laugh out of it

I'm glad you were able to use it to fix your situation but there are a few other ways you could have done it though.

Was glad to test it still cause I can add it to the list of softmods it works with in the next version. I was 99% sure it was UXE based in my first reply, but didn't want to say it was and be wrong.

I am feeling the same way about the softmod I tried so I want to use yours. I just want to clarify, I will not need any of the games to do this? I can just burn the iso and follow the instructions in the manual? I dont want to start it and then find out I need to go rent a game. Thanks for all the help.

Nope you won't need any of the 3 games. Just be sure to use the option "Stock+NTSC or PAL saves" then run the installer at the bottom of the menu. Then don't take the disc out until you get to the part where Krayzies Installer tells you to take any disc out. Then it will shutdown and when you cut it back on (without the disc) it will continue the softmod. Optionally after you are booting to EvoX or UnleashX (softmod fully installed) you can put CASH back in and change your dash and add programs.

BTW at the part where you pick which of the 3 gamesaves to install it doesn't really matter in your case, but remember incase you ever want to rent a disc to repair it (only if it will read originals and not backups cause you could use CASH), but you know how to use XBOXHDM and know the importance of an eeprom backup so you should never need one, and krayzies softmod is foolproof, the worst you can do is wipe the dash off and boot to a recovery dash, which CASH you can use to recover from that.

I always wondered this about Softmods..is there any version detector for them? I know that Krazies NDURE 1.1 is THE softmod to use now a days ... and before that it was Krazie's UXE 2.8.

Hmmm.. sorry if I jumped in wrong here, but since I'm about to softmod my x-box, I am curious as to why you say that you won't need any of the games. Doesn't the x-box have to be softmodded in the first place in order to be able to readh the burned cash cd-r ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

CASH doesn't have any sort of softmod detection to it. It can basically wipe the softmod using the same formatting base that Slayers uses and works on pretty much all softmods that were created before Ndure/Knave softmods. Ndure and Knave both have protection on them that prevents the drive from being formatted (unless you unlock an option so you can format). In the next version of CASH though I may make a standalone tool that may be able to detect the softmod it was originally modded with or at the very least identify the type of softmod. Obviously that will take a bit of time, and it's possible I'll make that a standalone app as well as built into the next CASH. Would be great for people that buy a pre-softmodded box and have no clue what's originally on there. Alot of how it works now is that the user should know the softmod used and read the manual and know whether CASH will wipe it or not. Basically they still can't even mess up too much (not beyond disc repair). Wiping the softmod with Ndure or Knave will result in a recovery dash on Ndure and Error 22 with Knave. Both dashs can be fixed even in that state though, CASH can restore Ndure fine from that state, and AID can restore Knave at that state also. In the next version I hope to have a way to bypass the softmod security of both and have CASH wipe any softmod off.

You only read the 2nd half of the convo, try reading the entire thread or at least where pcwhiz began his posts at. That was specifc to his scenario. The box DOES always have to be modded to read the disc.

I got everything working but I would like to change my dashboard to UnleashX instead of EvoX (From what I see and hear its much more powerful) Can I run the CASH disc again and choose UnleashX? Will it erase gamesaves? Thanks

You can use the dash changing/installing programs stuff without any worries, it won't delete or wipe anything at all, just will copy the new dash overtop of your old one. Just pop the disc in and select the section "I'm softmodded w/Ndure v1.1.1" then select "change dash/apps" section then just follow the rest to change it to whatever dash you wish.

Hey guys, i know you said i can't fuck up my xbox, but somehow i did. I was already softmodded with the gamesave hacks and i used CASH to remove that and try to install Krayzie's thing. I'm not sure what happened but now it hangs at the logo screen. The dvd spins the CASH disc it just won't read it before. It reads games but i think only the older ones because it doesn't read Dead or Alive 2.. Also, before this happened i tried to redo the softmod with Krayzie's NDURE installer Splinter Cell. I got it "minimal installed" and that deleted my msdash. But i inserted the game again and the saves are gone. WTF? SOmeone help me. I dunno if any of this made sense. Oh btw, i didn't have dash 5960. My xbox wouldn't let me get on live because i had no msdash. HELP. Would i have to hardmod it or something? I can't ftp into it.

Your post is kinda all over the place.

What softmod did you have on it when you first put CASH in?

Specifically which section and options did you use?

Did you follow the manual?

You said it hangs on booting CASH, does it boot any burned discs at all?

If you let the box continue to boot without a disc does it just hang and never boot to an error or dash?

What was the last option on CASH you used?

I'm not sure what softmod i had on it. My brother in law did it for me.

I used the 4th option first and then i installed NDURE. That first install deleted my msdash because it was a minimal install. I then chose option 2 from the main menu and i think i tried to uninstall it so i could reinstall it.

Yes i followed the manual.

Yes it hangs on CASH, I don't know about any other burned cds. I don't have any burned games. It hangs on Dead or Alive 2.

I think it was deleting the mod to stock+ndure v1.1.1

I have a softmodded box by hotswapping kingroach Ndure 3.0/xboxhdm. UnleashX boots fine. with powerbutton.
eject button boots black screen green letters, xbox requires service, in 40 different langauges.

It used to work fine. to boot to normal dash with eject.

I can boot cash 1.1 and choose to format stock+ndure 1.1.1 without knowing what game ndure3.0 was modded with?? I dont have the original game discs.

Do i have to run ndure toolset first to disable shadowc before i format with cash disc?

I have my eeprom backedup. Never had to use it before tho.

I prefer to fix this error without opening the box again. Id actually prefer a ftp fix. but i have tried replacing files on actual c and shadowc as well. with slayers retail etcc...

I am thinkin the error might be locked unlocked drive. but i never locked/unlocked the drive.

any suggestions.
