Oh joy, the reason I don't like coming here. I come here asking simple advice from cerealkillajme and all I get is the noob beatstick. It wouldn't kill to just let the person the question was directed to, aswer would it?
Regardless, I have since found a pretty good app for this job, and really don't need to know the man did it in CASH anymore.
As for exploit discs. I'm 100% for doing a proper xbox exploit. I use Krazyies Ndure 1.1.1 (props to Krayzie for the quality) for most of the modding I do. But some people cannot afford or find: the right game, a memory card, a USB key, an adapter for the USB key, etc etc.
I've been working on this hotswap installer for a few weeks ironing the little kinks out, extensive testing. Heck I even manage to brick a hard drive in the process (let this be a lesson to you, power outages during locking attemps can happen). But thus far I have 100% compatibility, and yes I'm testing on several different xboxes, with different hard drives and different model numbers. Thanks for the vote of stupid noob rather than just letting CK deal with my question. Just because I have only 1 or 2 posts here, does not make me a noob at this.
zzk was doing a hot-swap disc like this and it was a disaster. And you know, because you have 2 posts, one must assume you are a noob at this. Not to mention your post sounds EXACTLY like what zzk was trying, and dual accounts are a ban-earning offense.
Now, you are in a public forum. ANYONE can answer your questions. I'm highly suggesting you not continue down this path. it can cause way too many headaches for the people who created the installer you end up using....so hopefully you know how to create your own NDure or UXE installer if you do continue this way.
doing hotswap pre-installs for release to the internet is REALLY Not suggested. Doing the math will help you figure it out: 3 exploitable games, 2 regions per game, 6 total games that one would have to try to see if they can get into the exploit menu. If you use a method with a virtual eeprom, you will run into problems between PAL and NTSC.....your install will be based on one, someone out there will have the other. Even if you include both, the virtual eeprom will not match that person's real eeprom, so that person will still need to update their virtual eeprom to make it work properly. you could script this out, but most people end up just using Krayzie's Extras package.....and a couple of the items in there require the disc also!
if someone doesn't like your pre-set choices for the LBA48 settings, they will have to have the disc anyway to uninstall and reinstall anyway.
At the very least, if you are going to do a hotswap pre-install, don't use an established NDure or UXE method such as Krayzie's....create your own so that you can support it from start to finish.
if someone can't afford to pay $5 or less (i got my last 4 copies for $2.50 each from different used game stores) for a used copy of splinter cell, they probably don't need their box modded badly enough. with a soft-mod, there is simply too much that COULD go wrong, and not having that disc can prove to be disasterous. Splinter Cell can be found all over the place really cheap.
the ONLY people who should use a method like this are those who haven't got working DVD drives any longer, and for them, and honestly, they should spend their time replacing or repairing the drive....i mean, they are too poor to buy Splinter cell, so they probably are too broke to buy any other games....forget about buying the Torx 20, Torx 10, and Torx 15 screwdriver bits to open the case and pull out the stock hard drive.....i say stock, because if they are too poor for splinter cell, they are probably too poor to buy a larger hard drive. Besides, what would they do with a large hard drive anyway? they are probably too broke to buy their games, movies, or music, so there would be no legal content they could put on a larger drive, even if they had one.
Get where this is going?
Yeah, you can do it. I myself do a different version using XBHDM for a pre-installed set up....but i have the disc in case there are problems, and the only boxes that get that pre-install are ones i have total control over. But just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should.
