hey i've been talking it up on mirc chatrooms and reading random xbox forums looking for answers to my question and I think i've found one

the only BIG way that is well known now to get on xbox live with backups is with the fw hack
this is a little complicated though and a little expensive as in buying the correct drives..etc..
i have already done this

I read somewhere that maybe a year or two ago a dude named Paulozb, Paul, or Paul from Australia found the patch of code that xbox live checks for in bioses when it scans the bios to see if its authentic when banning people. As of to date, no modified bios like evox, unleashx, x2, has that patch of code and therefore xbox live runs a red flag on it and bans the eeprom of that xbox.

However, as the story goes the dude named paul figured out what the patch of code was, what exactly xbox live was looking for in the bios, and added it to his x2 bios, and went on live with his modded bios running. He played a backup that day, the next and the next. But he never released his findings.

I've also heard of a person named angerwound doing somethign similar with an xbe exploit where you can somehow manage to go on xbox live without getting banned again with ur modified bios. He has a video of himself modding on pgr2 called "screw that man." that he taped while he was on xbox live



MY QUESTION IS anyone know anything about these mods, how they can be done, what happened to those named people, these hacks woudl be 20 times better than the fw hack.

Sounds interesting but even if someone did know how, I doubt they would release it to the public do to the amount of cheating that would go down on live. Although it would be nice to play back up off the hd or off a disk.

First, XBL doesn't check for a certain piece of code in the BIOS.  If it did, we could extract it from the original one.  XBL checks the checksum of the BIOS itself, so if it varies in any way to the original one, the checksum is not the same.  That's why you can't go on XBL with a debug BIOS.

Angerwoud's creation is called "FuckMS" and was released a few months ago in this forum.  He developed it and used it himself just for kicks.  Then he decided to give it to a few people he thought were trusted, but they leaked it all over the net and XBL was full of cheaters patching their backups.  So, Angerwound informed MS and got it fixed, so what was realeased is in it's current state pretty useless, but it's still there to be experimented with.
