Can't Save Msdash Configuration
« on: May 15, 2006, 06:47:00 PM »

Hi guys! I have a problem and maybe you can help me. Yesterday I exploited a Xbox (UXE) but I forgot to configure options in the MS Dashboard like dolby, language, pal-60... before the exploit, and although i installed MSdash(patched with f0nt patcher) besides the evox, I change the configuration of the console but when I reset it, it backs to default config again and nothing changes.

Do any of you guys know any method to solve this? or any utilities to configure (language, pal-60, dolby...)the xbox without have to use the MS dashboard?

Thanks in advance.

(I tried search but i didn't find anything to solve this probably 'cause I'm too dumb  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) )

did you by any chance use xboxhdm to perform the softmod?

if so... this is probably due to a bug in the way xbox linux handles the xfs file system
just boot the softmod, ftp everything on the xbox's drives to your pc and back again (you do have a backup do you?... just in case)

It's more likely he has a virtual eeprom set with no image to write to. This causes a write protected eeprom and settings do not stay over full reboots.

big ben bullet yes, i exploited the xbox with xboxhdm and i can change system configuration restoring ms dashboard without patching (and C partition like it was from factory default), changing the settings and exploit the xbox again. As you can see this is a hassle to do each time i want change sound output for example.

Krayzie i BET my problem is exactly like you say but... do you know any method to solve this? i know what is the eeprom, but i don't understand what is that "virtual eeprom" about and why i have it.

What i have to do to achieve settings stay over reboots?

Lot of thanks for your replies.

try backing up the eeprom and put the bin in E:\shadowc\. I dunno the exact path though so try reading the documentation that came with the package. Otherwise you could make a new nkpatcher with your own configuration.

The documentation of which package? I use UXE exploit and I'm afraid i don't know what is the exact function of nkpatcher, shadowc and so...

I don't know how to make a "new nkpatcher".

I have a "shadowc" directory in c:\fonts\nk\shadowc, what can i achieve putting eeprom.bin in this directory?
