Lost Msdash And Cannot Write To C
« on: May 05, 2006, 04:30:00 AM »

I softmodded my Xbox with XboxHDM and Ndure; but I forgot to back up my C: drive (I know..), and I no longer have my Ms Dash and I cannot transfer or create files in the C: Drive. I tried restoring my Ms Dash with Slayers 2.6 and Auto-Installer Deluxe and I get Error 21 after I re-boot my Xbox. I tried formatting and re-installing Ndure softmod through XboxHDM, but the same thing happens. I thought it was my HD so I put a different HD in it and the same thing happens. Any ideas?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cussing.gif)

Thanks

SiFu2, this is likely to be the easiest solution (if the Xbox hasn't been without power for too long):

1. Get it booting again using the Ndure via xboxhdm tutorial's method *except*:

a} when running Ndure 3.0.exe, *only* have the top plus bottom two options checked
...(that's "Basic Files", "Add Ndure Toolset" and "Create XBOXHDM Installer")

b} replace the `ndure` script it creates (on the PC) with the one linked via the tut thread's 1st post

c} when installing it, use the `ndure` script's Option 2 (*not* 1)

2. Thereafter you can update it to Ndure-complete with 5960 dual-boot as per:

http://forums.xbox-s...dpost&p=3346273
(*except* you won't need to do the /E/dash and /E/ndts ftp steps, as "1.abc}" provided them).

Are you indicating that after "1.abc}" it booted and worked okay, but after "2." those odd things happened?

Does booting with the Eject start the MS dash and (if so) is the Xbox's clock set to the correct year?

That's one option for sure.  You may have another too ... does your SlaYers disc boot?

No, my Slayers disc didn't boot, but, I did get my XBOX working again. I don't know what I did wrong, but I re-did what you told me to do, and it just started working again. Thanks man, I can finally use these HD cables.  beerchug.gif
