Hd Upgrade With Softmod
« on: March 26, 2006, 02:35:00 PM »

Alright, it has been a longwhile since the last time I visit the site. I have done softmod using ldots gamesave exploit around 2 years ago. It has been good since...smile.gif

Now I want to upgrade a larger HDD. I already bought 150Gb HDD and ready to go for upgrade. Yes I did search and the info here is so overwhemingly with different techniques (you know what I mean with 2 years not visiting the site).

Could anyone please suggest a softmod with HDD upgrade tut ? I am looking at "How to Softmod Your Xbox Using XboxHDM (Ndure)" right now. Am I on the right track ?

Actually, after reading few posts, I think I can update with xboxhdm by

0) extract xboxhdm zip file to a temp directory
1) copy/transfer my softmodded box epprom.bin, C and E contents to the unzipped directories in step 0
2) create iso file and burn it to cd-rw
3) open up PC connect cd/dvd drive to primary slave
4) connect the new blank hdd to primary master
5) change the PC setup to boot from cd
6) boot PC with the CD
7) At xboxhdm menu, select unlock hdd option
8) reboot the PC with the CD again
9) At the menu, type "xboxhd"
10) Select "build new xbox hd"
11) Select, "rebuild C" partition
12) Select "build F drive"
13) Re-lock hdd
14) Open xbox case and take old hdd out and replace it with the new hdd drive

Am I on the right track guys ? If not, anything else I should consider or missing ?

Many thanks

Sounds good to me.. If it says frozen when you try to lock the new hd go into your pc bios and shut auto detection off. or select None under pri master. Just a helpful tip.

Edit: If you have a folder called backup in your E: drive it should have a fresh copy of the C: drive files in it. But that depends on how you softmodded it. If you use the softmodded C: files you mite end up with a dash error 13-16. But if you get a fresh copy and use ndure for xboxhdm you should be all set.

Thanks for the advice,

You mean I should use C drive contents from Ndure, instead of my current softmodded C drive ? How I can do this tho ?

Thanks

you should have a folder called backup in the E: drive. If you used ndure prev it should have C: files in it if not  you could try it the way it is. And if you end up with a dash error just get slayers 2.6 and get the C: files from System/All/C: on slayers. Use those files on xboxhdm and just rebuild C:

But your better off trying with what you have if you dont have a backup of C: rather than possible wasteing time DLing slayers and makeing another disk.

It mite work. I recently cloned my softmodded drive and it still works.
