Hi,

I want to softmod and upgrade the HD of a virgin xbox that never gets used.
At the moment I don't own a game capable of a game save exploit so can't get the eeprom from the original hardrive.

If I want to prepare the new HD using Ndure and xboxHDM. it it essential that I have the eeprom.bin from the old HD?

Can I not just hotswap the new drive with the old one whilst the drive is unlocked?

Basically I want to keep the original HD intact incase of emergencies and not have to lcoate and buy an old exploitable game.

the xbox never sends a lock command to the drive,  the drive relocks upon a reboot signal or power loss.


so your therory would almost work, until power was lost, then you'd be in trouble.

the easiest way, would be to hotswap an exploit to the retail drive, then gain your eeprom.bin & ftp it.

lock the new drive with it, which has already been preped, and should be ready for installation.
