Xbox Softmod Installer
« on: December 21, 2005, 11:07:00 AM »

Heres a silly question for the lazy like me...

Has anyone ever made a softmod installer package for the XBOX?

That way when you want to mod an new Xbox when you already have a modded one it is real easy?

1.  Place Installer CD In Modded Xbox

2.  Connect original hard drive from the xbox to be modded

3.  Install softmods on original hard drive with modded xbox

4.  Place hard drive back in original xbox

5.  Boot on original Xbox - Softmod will load and you have a modded xbox to dop what you like (TSOP flash or whatever)

Problem is you need to eeprom from the unmodded xbox to lock the hard drive.  You would also have to unlock the unmodded hard drive before you put it in the already modded xbox.  This is where gamesave installers are useful.  There is no need to swap out to a modded xbox.  Also, the chances of someone having another modded xbox around to do this with is slim.  Read up on xboxhdm, it will allow you to setup a modded hard drive just using your PC.

yes this method works ( I have done this few times) .. but it also depend on your hotswapping skills.. Boot the boot cd in modded xbox,  swap the hard drives, go to file browser, refresh the files browser and you will see unmodded xbox hd .

Thanks King...

Thats what I thought it is just like Hotswapping with a PC.

So my request is still valid.

You can have a disc like Slayers that you boot on the modded xbox.

Do a hotswap and then click "Install Softmod" and all should work.  No need to mess around with my PC (If a disc were made that does this... mayble i'll create one)

ya .. you can make a disk like that.. I just manually copy files with file browser since autoinstaller arent my tipe.. you can download any existing installer like Krazye's and just change the path to D:\ in .xml to make it a dvd installer.

uhh no my installer won't work from a disk since it needs to extract/rename/remove files in the installer itself...

Well, you could hotswap in, put the save on there, and manually execute the XBE to load it up.
