A Few Simple Softmod Questions
« on: December 14, 2005, 07:17:00 AM »

Hi

Although I am quite a experieced hard modder I have never soft modded (or even seen a soft modded box) an xbox - done lots of reading about them and was wondering if someone could just confirm a few points for me.

1) Once an xbox is soft modded (using font exploit - which seems to be the best method) it is very similar to a hard modded box (with the exception of turning off the chip for live) in that you just turn it on and it will boot straight to the dashboard of your choice.
2) How long does it take to boot to the dashboard compared to a modchipped xbox?
3) Both no dvd drive and larger hdd are viable options?

Thanks for your help.

Jimbo.

P.S. Latest font exploits work with all versions of xbox, correct?

Thanks again,

A1) Yup - very similar.
A2) 1 second slower than modchip.
A3) No DVD? No. Large HDD? Yes.

UXE/NDure work on all XBOX versions.

{: Re. 1 plus other things, Ndure is more "chip-like" than any other softmod (see the blue link in my sig for most of its improvements over UXE)... :}
