It would be great if something that's still possible and generally "worthwhile" results from this ... haven't identified anything like that myself though (yet).

yeah but wasn't coolness the main factor of an Ndure retail setup? Well I guess not since the friends online list seems to be displaying even without hitting the live tab making it at least a bit functional.

So one possible setup for me would be:
ndure dual boot setup (not retail boot)
tray closed -> fuckMS'ed XBMC, contains a shortcut to msxboxdash.xbe (5960) for XBL friends list and gaming (or this way with 4920 msxboxdash.xbe)
tray open -> fully modded state with unleashx, contains links to xromwell and a restore script for dashupdates if eh's setup doesn't have the friends list.

this assuming i use live, witch i dont, so excuse me if i'm wrong here.

I still wonder what would happen if we loaded a fuckmssed xonlinedash.xbe that looks for retail fonts in C:\fonts rather then the xodash folder and doesn't check C:\xboxdash.xbe's certificate. But I guess that would be too risky and causing banns when MS finds out.

The thing that also bothers me with the retail dash that people just don't seem to understand that they can't use the xbox live features. resulting in numerous posts on how they end up at a black screen when they hit the live tab. At least with a 3rd party dash that misconception is taken away.

Yes, I believe an option to setup a FUCKMS'ed 3rd party dash is the best option. Since fuckms doesn't like to cooperate with debug xbe's at times, I may need to rewrite it to resolve this issue.. As there are many different 3rd party dash options.

I now have a retail Ndure dual boot which boots to evox tray closed and live console with tray open from where I can launch retail games + live AND acces live acounts settings. No traces of being banned whatsoever even though I connected to xbox live multiple times for longer periods. The big question offcourse is would this be worthy and/or safe enough for packaging it for n00bs. Maybe a edited msdash (to prevent updates and removed/edited live tab) or a msdash like 3rd party dash (like thc or similar) can also be used for the retail dual boot.

I was thinking about direct UDDAE setup.. rename Uberdash xboxdash.xbe to xonlinedash.xbe and place it under xodash folder. Now place a patched xonlinedash.xbe name x2onlinedash.xbe in xodash. NOrmally people would boot into xbox dash having usual features. When they need to get into xonlinedash console for account feature, press xbox live tab..

Xbox live tab> xonlinedash.xbe ( xboxdash.xbe) > ST.DB> x2onlinedash.xbe

It would be more safe IMO since people dont really need to go to xonlinedash console all the time and CIO tested that friends list etc. are possible without a xonlinedash.xbe..

Assuming all kernels can boot the uberdash xboxdash.xbe as xonlinedash.xbe, that is indeed the most functional solution. However, this means the real xonlinedash.xbe (x2onlinedash.xbe) needs to be patched to checksum msxboxdash.xbe instead of xboxdash.xbe and to read fonts from say c:\xodash\f0nts\

If all that works, then we have full live console access + friends list/auto login functionality without any switching needed.

I doubt that network settings via the msxboxdash.xbe would work since it calls xonlinedash.xbe (with is infact the uberdash xboxdash.xbe) and if dashupdate runs you cannot get to the live console anymore (pressing B to go out of the auto login/friends list screen causes error 21, so you cant press the live tab)

Still, it's the safest way, since the softmod itself will stay intact, friends list/live play will stay intact and pressing the live tab doesn't cause the box to hang.

Perhaps patching the 5960 dash/msxboxdash.xbe to look for its support files in say xboxdashdata.hacked, then fuckms'ing it would allow us to avoid update problems all together, leaving us with only 2 minor disadvantages: network settings via M$dash dont work, and getting to the live console requires some finger dancing.

Today I tried both. I changed xboxdash.xbe to look in xnoxdashdata.185ead00 and renamed xboxdash.xbe to xnoxdash.xbe ( this renaming helps to keep the xonlinedash.xbe file size same). Then patched xonlinedash.xbe to look in
1. C:\fonts
2.C:\fonts
3.C:\

and the dash runs fine without problem.

In that case, we can complicate the softmod even more. In addition of xonlinedash.xbe ( xboxdash.xbe), you will also add settings_adoc.xip ( xboxdash.xbe) from Uberdash. I am preety sure live settings changes with xonlinedash.xbe ( xboxdash.xbe) will work.. From what I have seen today, that xboxdash.xbe doesnt call xonlinedash.xbe, it launches that. In that case xonlinedash.xbe will act as a redirector. In case of live update, although update can mess up xonlinedash.xbe ( xboxdash.xbe) in xodash folder, you can launch settings_adoc.xip since xnoxdashdata.185ead00 will remain intact. And when in modded state, you can fix it with a simple script.

Actually the double dash idea was killed by the 5960 dash. Xboxdash.xbe checks xonlinedash s certificate just like vice versa....

I think the only option to have all msdash features is to create some kind of switch or maybe an extra dash to select what you want ie:
option 1: set an edited fuckmssed xboxdash.xbe as open tray option
option 2: set an edited fuckmssed xonlinedash.xbe as open tray option
(both options switchable by gamesave or dashboard item)

option 3: boot to habibid dash and select from there what fuckmssed xbe you wanna load.

I don't  think it would be possible to get a FULL msdash with live console back to retail state. The closesst yuou would get is to load a habibid xboxdash.xbe and load a fuckmssed xonlinedash.xbe from the live tab. but then users would have to hit xboxlive every time they wanna play a game on live.
