Do I Have Everything I Need?

I own a standard version of Splinter Cell bought an Action Replay off amazon.com, I'm going to buy this(this one is good right) hard drive.  Do I have everything I need to softmod and upgrade my hard drive?  Do I need a special model of the Xbox?  I don't need a modchip right?
