so removing settings_adoc.xip is still needed for ndure retail install ? or it is only requied for placeholder of  UDDEE+SCEEE?..

as for future update.. I finished up adding complete 185ead00==>17cdc100 patch in the installer so if anyone need "upita", he/she only needs full 185ead00 folder in "C\" of installation dircetory. smile.gif  ( after LZMA compression, the patch is surprisingly only 67kb so the installer size wont increase) beerchug.gif

kingroach, Ndure retail with UDDEE needs the version 17CDC100 xboxdash.xbe in xboxdashdata.185ead00 as settings_adoc.xip (and the Ndure retail with DDEEE I described had dash4817's xboxdash.xbe in xboxdashdata.185ead00 as settings_adoc.xip).

I meant is it required to remove the settings_adoc.xip for normal installs ( without UDDEE/SCEE).

My understanding is that the settings_adoc.xip is deleted to prevent a dash update in a normal ndure installation.

(The retail settings_adoc.xip is 4.01 MB and isn't required.  Deleting it and leaving *less than* 4 MB free is the key to the softmods survival if dashupdate.xbe runs.)

To keep the softmod protected *when Ndure is activated/enabled* the "rules" are:

1. don't use more than 4 MB in xboxdashdata.185ead00 for optional files

2. don't leave more than 4 MB minus 'the additional space used re. 1' free in total

3. previously rename or replace anything else dashupdate.xbe deletes (such as DDEEE's two XIP files in C)

No offense.. but you are using ALOT of code to do all that stuff... (or it just looks like that.. could be me ofcourse). And where's the restore M$dash function?

BTW i assume this toolbox is a gamesave that can also be started via your "Upita" setup? (Im gonna try and put that in my installer to allow full functionality, as soon as i get it running that is)

This is a part of the .xml file.. the rest of the files has backup/restore options. The optional renaming fonts is just a precaution.

CODE

Will result in error 21 if used on fonts/basic setups so it seems. Say xboxdash.xbeN doesn't exist, the batch will error out when xboxdash.xbe has already been renamed to msxboxdash.xbe.

Renaming the fonts is a smart move btw, just in case.

Cio, the "Install Menu" section it enhances contains the majority of the code already.  This tweaked it a little and added Ndure 'fonts' setup features for the first time.  (It just replaces the corresponding section of the config file.)

It's unrelated to any of Ndure 2.1's other menus and options or to Easter-egg exploit installs (but a few of its lines prevent them being clobbered ... btw, I use the DDEEE as it's superior [and my kernel isn't 5713 or 5838]).

+ Excellent finds; I hadn't even noticed the activation sequence wasn't implemented as the reverse of the de-activation!
