Ok, I need a question answered. Does this involve opening your Xbox or computer AT ALL, because you mentioned nothing about either of those two and said a lot about burning CD's.
if you use a gamesave and FTP then NO need to open anything...otherwise YES

use a gamesave installer.......

download the latets nkpatcher from here:

http://www.esnips.co...11_U03_vga10_KB

extarct it, you will find a file called config_runtime. Open the file with notepad. Look at this section:

CODE
%define NKP_LED_COLOR        ORANGE    ; < CHANGE IT HERE
%define ALTDASH_LED_COLOR    GREEN     ; < CHANGE IT HERE
%define PATCHBACK_LED_COLOR    GREEN     ; < CHANGE IT HERE
%define TRIBOOT_LED_COLOR    GREEN     ; < CHANGE IT HERE

change the first option to GREEN. Run the file make_runtime.bat (first delete nkp_config.bin file). This will createa new config file. Just drop the file in E:\ drive. Or you can compile a new bios by changing config file and replacing the bios file in C:\bios\ folder. ( to see real C, you need to run E:\ndts\default.xbe file)..
no need to delete nkp_config.bin (it's overwritten)
in this version (VGA10) the file need to be in E:\NKP11\ (look at the read me)
QUOTE
* CHANGED location of config files to E:\NKP11\ shadowC_off.bin, eeprom_off.bin, NKP11_config.bin
NKP11_config_open.bin, and boot1.bin (using king boot mode)

Look at the xboxhdm for dummies link in my sig. It has picture explaining how to connect xbox hard drive to computer. Opening xbox is easy.. just open the 6 screwes that are in the back. go to xbox-scene.com and in the tutorial section, theres tutorial on how to open xbox.

you cant download splinter cell that works for softmod.. you have to buy one if you want to do gamesave exploit.

i want to ask some question. I tray intstall softmod with ndure installer for pc ower hboxhdm. I create backup but i dont make a copy to cd. And now after all instalion i have this:
i boot xbox unleashx, ftp in and in backup directory E\backup i can't find eeprom.bin file.
I try get this file with ConfigMagic but this program don't want to work. Maybe it's problem in virtual c and virtual eeprom:(
So, it is any posibility to get eeprom without one time more hotswap?

OK, I have a soft-modded xbox with a stock HDD in it (honestly not sure which exploit I used last... MA gamesave, though, think it may have been Krazies 1.1.1)... have a 500GB WD (yes, it is IDE) coming in the next few days to put in.  I already have a copy of EEPROM.BIN from the Xbox.  I have no access to a chipped Xbox.

I plan on using Xboxhdm 1.9 with Ndure 3.0 on the 500GB.  Can anyone tell me what problems I might encounter (hopefully with solutions)?  I understand I'll need to format any partition larger than 137GB with 32K blocks, and Xboxhdm does not do this?  Or has this since been fixed?  Will I need to create the partition in Xboxhdm and then do the formatting with a program on the Xbox (which would you recommend... I have various install disks that I believe have partitioning and formatting tools, and of course there's "the usual places")?

Also, what is the best partitioning scheme?  Not sure what the largest partition size allowed with LBA48 on the Xbox, and most threads I've been finding are very outdated...  Will I need to create both a F: and a G: partition, and even if I don't, is there an advantage to doing it that way?  Would there be any advantage to making E: larger also (say for the cache directory), or would M$ send the cops after me if I did so?  tongue.gif

Oh, and I think I already know the answer to this, but would you recommend me replacing the NKPatcher in the NDURE 3.0 with NKPatcher v11-U04 (I think that is the latest)?

Thanks in advance!

First you should just create a basic harddrive.. when xboxhdm asks you to format F drive, type no. After you boot to unleashx on new harddrive, first backup everything from E drive to your computer.. Format the E drive using unleashx and copy back the contents of E drive ( you will still have ftp access).. This is because xboxhdm sometimes corrupts E drive creation and you will get problems saving games.

Then install xbpartitioner and using 32K clustter format 247GB F drive and 245GB G drive.. You can also all 500GB F drive but chances are it will get corrrupt at the end.

If you can you can install the nkpatcher 11_U04.. Rename the nkpatcher file you compile to bios.xbe and copy that to C:\bios\ folder..

Thank you!  Exactly the kind of information I needed, especially the reformatting of drive E:.  And it sounds like I'll definitely want to create F: and G: drives to be safe.  So other than what you've mentioned, follow the "standard" instructions for your NDURE installer?

BTW, any plans for an NDURE 3.1 with the "latest and greatest" NKPatcher?  And is NKPatcher still "the way to go" as far as soft-mods are concerned, or is there a better route to go now?

Oh, a suggestion:  Any chance of updating your Xboxhdm tutorials with the information needed for todays larger hard disks?  Or did you, and I just missed it?

OK, I got the drive up and running in the Xbox... however, I just noticed you said to use 32K clusters.  When I used XBPartitioner I kept hitting "A" until it showed me the F: and G: partitions split evenly, and I formatted with that.  However, I believe I saw it say it was using 16K clusters.  From what I've been reading, XBPartitioner only auto-selects 32K clusters on >250GB or so partitions?  And the information I've been reading online has been contradictory on whether or not you need 32K clusters above 256GB, or if it's needed above 512GB...  So, am I going to get corruption on these partitions if I don't reformat with 32K clusters or not?

BTW, instead of FTPing the E: drive to my computer, re-formatting E:, and FTPing back, I copied E: to F:, formatted E:, and copied back from F:.  Figured it'd be faster.  I did this from the AID Deluxe 4.01 disk (it has XBPartitioner on it, too).

Sorry, wouldn't let me edit.  Meant to say I've been reading contradictory info on if 32K clusters are needed above 137GB, or above 256GB.
