I don't know the sequence of those events; are you thinking there may be a way to prevent it creating the .du directories?

I was thinking if we already put the files that dashupdate.xbe in xboxdashdata.du foleder then what would happen.. does it have a overwrite function?.. dry.gif

@eh

I woke up with the thought of a backdoor in the "retail" M$ dash that leeds to a switcher (and will have to do a minimun of renaming/moving/deleting so dashupdate.xbe never gets a chance)

So that would seem like a second reason to not remove em anyway. Since i missed reason 1 ohmy.gif .

@kingroach

Yes (or their would be only one xboxdash.xbe i figure)

If I get bored enough I'll write a guide on how to use this installer, drop in the files correctly and such.

Since I know people will find some way to fuck that up.

If you need a dummy file to fill up the drive, why not use Team Xecuter's utility?

http://www.teamxecuter.com/index.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=19

Allows you to create a file on demand of a size you specify, in megabyte increments.

This tool is also ideal for building a blank shadowc.img file. Just mount the image with a compiled NKPatcher with Shadow C enabled, then simply format "The C drive" with your favourite app/dash. smile.gif

Don't switch to Ndure if UXE works for you.

For the love of god don't think its somehow alot better than UXE!

All Ndure really offers is a helluva lot better support for coldbooting games (Eg, for Xbox Live).

How so? How is it different? Can't you pop the game in and play it before the xbox dash loads with UXE...

I'm actually interested in XBL now that they have got an update for Halo 2 that makes it not so bad..

make a new folder with just the bare files from m$ dash 5960 ... then run the installer into it.... double check there is no fonts folder afterwards... then tranfer the lot to a blank c: partition on your xbox.. it should work perfectly then

I'll ask it again... since my question wasn't answered... tongue.gif

also... how is something easier to cold boot??

How do you improve on shutting off the xbox and rebooting it with the game in the drive :?
