Xboxhdm Booting W/ Cromwell Bios?
« on: May 08, 2005, 09:42:00 AM »

Why? Cause it's cool, and i got a chip with cromwell on it anyway.
No, really so i can edit files on my xbox fast and easy.

I remeber reading some post about a line in xboxhdm that said "this machine is not an xbox" so i figure what the hell, lets try this.

Anyway, Cromwell reports "no linuxboot.cfg found" witch makes sense (since the file is not on the root of the CD or even on it at all).

So: how the fuck can i make xboxhdm boot on my xbox.

you need to create a linuxboot.cfg file and put that file in the root of cdrom like this:

QUOTE
kernel isolinux/fatximage
initrd isolinux/initrd.gz
append root=/dev/ram3 ramdisk_size=36000 automatic=method:cdrom

but you wont be able to load it right cz the initrd file is itself 25MB uncompressed and when that dunps into RAm.. xbox's 64 mb ram isnt enough. sad.gif

Thx, i'll try anyway.

MIGHT be a usefull thing for chips that ship with a cromwell BIOS and for me to upgrade HD's on site using my own xbox.

Edit: Couldn't i "strip" functions out of xboxhdm? (btw, shouldn't xboxhdm run on a 266MHz w/ 64 MB ram?)
