also im in xbins now and no trace of the ndure PC..I did find in the xboxhdm folder UDE 1.4 ..Which one do I need, in order to softmod a xbox..Sry I am just confused about exactly how each progie is diff. and used...I have been reading alot on these topics, and still cant seem to understand If I only need one or the other, or both...I already have a xbox I softmodded w/ the gamesave method..I'd really like to get a handle on how to use my PC instead...I already have xboxhdm ready to hook up a bit larger HDD..So hoping for a bit of insight on which of these progies I will need, if not both ..Although PC Ndure dont seem to be so easy to find, I sent a mail out and still nothing

Also like I was sayin above I seen PCndure on Xbins but as of today there was no trace..Guess one is prolly as good and easy as the other, or not? Can some peeps give me their thoughs on this..Reading the guides on them both they look pretty much similar, but wtf do I know....roflmao I havent even used xboxhdm as of yet..Guess its why I'd like as much info as to which one might be more helpful for a noob such as me  jester.gif  thx 4 any responces... Also is the PC Ndure just kinda like a nifty update for this UXE in order to get back on XBL? (atleast for now anyways)thx

the Ndure package is in /XBOX/exploits/_Packages/Kingroachs Installer folder in xbins.. it is currently version 2.1 but hopefully within a week it will be updated to Ndure installer 3.0 which has Ndure package for xboxhdm..

Main difference between UXE and Ndure is that with Ndure you can boot to retail MS dash for going to live. If you dont use live and dont use advanced features of Ndure than Uxe package will do it for you.. look below few topics for a tutorial on the installer.

Hey Kingroach. In one of textbook's tuturials youw were helping me and I stumbled acroos this topic and figured this might be a better way for you to help me since no one has beem to the other topic in a few days. My problem is that I can not load the MS Dash when I try to I get a message saying that live is updating ... Update done then the dash loads. You told me that I was missing files in the C:\fonts folder. I compared two xboxes and notice that I was missing xbox book and xbox .xtf files. My problem was that I couldn't add the files to the font folder, plus I didn't have a font folder I had a f0nt folder. Textbook told me that the softmod stop noobs from messing up the C drive. So he told me to get a pbl bios. So that is the background information.

I install the pbl using the same instructions in this tut instead of choosing option two with the NK Patcher I chose option 1 for the pbl. The new softmod created a C:\font folder with some .xtf files in it, but I still have the c:\f0nt folder where the mod put some other .xtf files in it. When I try to load the MS dash I just get a blank black screen. Comparing the two xboxes the working one has just a font folder with xbox book.xtf and xbox.xtf in it. I assumed that is what the other one needs also so I tried it and when the xbox loads I get a pop up saying xbox live is downloading updates, and then it says it couldn't connect to xbox live (Had problem before when first tried to install softmod, I belive I know how to correct it). Would you mind telling me what is my screw up. And what files do I need where. I believe I know how fix the update problem and be able to ftp the files or use a file manager to correct this (post your solution just in case I'm still a noob) If the bios uses a the shadow which is a virtual C drive why does what I have in the C drive matter? Thanks for the help.

with shadowc enabled when you ftp your C drive will seem empty, at that point you will need to copy C drice files to shadowc ( from slayers disk etc.)..  and in evox .ini make it to boot msdash from C:\msdash not from C:\xboxdash.xbe.

its recommended that you run shadowc..files needed for xbox dash is :

xboxdash
Audio
fonts
xodash
xboxdashdata.185ead00 folder

if you have a msdash.xbe or msxboxdash.xbe in your C drive ( uxe installer should patch it and name it).. then you will need a f0nts folder instead of fonts folder..

First up just wanna say well done and thankyou for making what is prolly the easiest softmod out there to install using a hotswap.
The only probs that I encountered was that things didnt unpack properlly and so not all the files where there when it created the iso.  This gives an error saying that a directory isnt there when it is, its just that a couple of files wasnt there.  So I unpacked all the files again using a different app, checked all directorys, reburnt and all went fine.
I used the dissconnect the dvd rom technique to get the harddrvie unlocked and left the power cable to the harddrvie from the xbox in.  And didnt pause the bios, just connected it at the first HDM menu (oh and theres really no need to rush, seemed to have plenty of time to swap).
Everything was so dam easy that 20 minutes after getting mine done I had a neighbours done....out of interest mine was a 1.3 xbox and his is a 1.6 something...option 2 was used for both.

Now for a question....
My mate has a 160gig harddrive from an old xbox that died and he would like to stick it in my neighbours xbox, but the thing is we would like to do it without loosing all the games on it.  Ive seen many procedures for preparring a new drive and was wondering if anyone has any advice for what i want to do?

was that xbox modded with a modchip?.. then it might be unlocked.. in that case, you need to get eeprom from your neighbours xbox. ( on evox, go to systems>backup and backup).. eeprom will be in E:\dash\backup\ folder...

now burn a xboxhdm disk with that eeprom in eeprom folder of xboxhdm.. boot xboxhdm, connect the 160GB HD, softmod it and then restart computer, go to xboxhdm option "3" and type "lockhd -a"..

I will work but I suggest you first repairing the C drive with reatil C drive files ( from slayers).

I'm stuck.

I used this awesome package to softmod my xbox, plus I threw in a drive upgrade.  The issue is I just recently purchases a high def. projector and need to be able to set the ms dash options to widescreen, 720p, etc.  I can do it, but the changes won't stay after a reboot.

What options do I have to fix this?

I'd like to make the changes from the ms dash, so that I can use xbmc to upconvert dvd's to 720p for me.

add a copy of eeprom.bin in E:\shadowc\ folder.. and then try to change the settings again.. if the change still doesnt exists then you might need to do a bios upgrade.. for updating the bios:

download ndure installer for pc 3.0 from xbins..
just choose the basic setup.
now go to installation folder and go to C:\bios\ folder.
rename bios.xbe to default.xbe
and replace the default.xbe in E:\bios\ folder with this one
now add eeprom.bin file in C:\shadowc\ folder.

I know it little trouble to do but xboxhd package is bit old and this problem is fixed in the new versions of the installer.
