if you just want softmod the xbox then you wont need any files from slayers disk.. but if you want to setup a new hd with everything then you will need to put files from slayers disk in "linux/C/" folder.

in that case, you can just clone teh disk first and run the installer.. no need to build HD from scratch.

yah if you do that yen that will work too..cloning takes a lot of time so be patient..if you rebuild the C:\ drive with stock files ( files from slayers).. then you can access msdashboard from evox.. I acnnt remember if theres a link to msdash in evox.ini.. if there is none then you need to makea msdash menu.. msdash is C:\msdash.xbe ( option 1) or C:\mxboxdash.xbe ( option 2 with shadowc)..

boot to xbrowser.. just hotswap and type "xbrowser".. In the fonts folder of C:\ drive.. Delete Xbox.xtf and XBox Book.xtf from C:\fonts folder..

try this. after it give your the error, go back to the menu and use the option to install custom fonts.. this should install a fresh set of fonts.

I dont know why this isnt working for you.. you can try downloading UXE-complete 2.2 and try to install the exploit manually..
