Questions Regarding Rsa Encryption
« on: March 01, 2005, 09:14:00 PM »

SORRY FOR DOUBLE POST, INTERNET HAS BEEN SHAKY

I've gotten interested in the RSA encryption regarding the xbox seeing how i'm currently learning it at my university. i've searched on x-s and on the xbox-linux.org website but still i have some questions that need answering:

1) The xbox kernel public key is said to be 617 digits long as told here:
http://www.xbox-linu...tboverview.html
Anyone that knows about the RSA encryption, knows that it is composed of a pair of keys: the public modulus and exponent. If the key given by xbox-linux is n (the public modulus) what is e (the public exponent)?

2) The fundamental theorem of arithmetic states : any positive integer greater than 1 is written as a unique prime or as the product of TWO OR MORE primes. Why exactly are people assuming that the modulus (n) provided in the kernel, is 2 factors, p and q where p*q = n?
