Upgrading Hd In A Softmoded Xbox?

How do I get an XBOX that is going to simply be soft MODed, to accept a new HD?

I locked my new hard drive after formatting it on a MODed XBOX.

When I try to boot off 007 to get into BlackWar, it just keeps telling me ERROR 6. That it now can not unlock the damn drive. So does it want it locked or what!?!?

Please help before I shoot myself.

Think I got it. I need to apply the password that the eprom.bin gives me, and apply it to the new hard drive, THEN lock the fucker. Right?

I'm tired, will try out later.

ok.. now did you lock it with the correct EEPROM key from the xbox your going to be using it for, cause error 6 sounds like it it tryin to unlock it but the password isnt right.. go unlock the drive using the xbox you locked it with... then go look up XBOXHDM for dummies on x-s forum.. you have to transfer the eeprom from your unmodded xbox to the new HD so it can unlock right. i would explain but how many repeat posts do we need.

now that you know the answer go read

edit: Yea you use XBOXHDM to transfer the eeprom onto the new HD.. then lock it and your good

Just a quick question for anyone listening.

Couldn't you just do a hotswap i.e. unplug the orig hdd and then plug in the new (both are powered using a power splitter) then lock it?

So long as you have the eprom.bin backed up and copied to your PC, you can then download XBOX HD Maker, and Slayer's installer. You can grab the password for slayer's installer by paying close attention to directions, and reading the news...

Then by following the directions in the Readme.txt that came with the XBOX HD Maker, you will learn how to build and ISO, which basically consists of putting the eprom in the linux/eprom folder, and filling up C and E with the C and E from your original drive.

Once you boot this, goto the section about locking your hard drive in linux. Type lockhd, tell it you want to load from the eprom, and it will do the rest for you. After which point all you really need to do is pop the hard drive in your XBOX, set it to Master (with slave) boot up BlackWar using 007 or Mech Assault, and prepare your F drive, then FTP over what ever files you want on your XBOX. It was easy if you are familiar with what needs to be on the XBOX harddrive, and where, etc.

Yeah i was wondering the same, is there anyway to get a hdd ready for a softmodded xbox, though a hardmodded xbox?

yes you can put a new large unlocked drive into a moded xbox then setup a exploit and hotswap it in a softmoded xbox all you need is a dvdr with configmagic to lock the hdd in the softmoded xbox

the reason the xbox needs to be softmoded with the retail hdd 1st is so you can run configmagic from dvdr to lock the large hdd

if theres a tute for this can someone please point me to the direction... ive tried searching XS forum.. thanx for the replies guys...
im confused at the dvdr part (warbeast)... cause when ive tried to plack my unlock hdd wit softmod expliot copied to upgrade hdd it wont boot and gives error 05. i cant even boot from orignal disc...
