you tried putting the dash on E or F? Maybe there is no space left on the virtual C.

I've heard of problems when using XboxHDM to install stuff to E, where the xbox would be unable to modify it, hence needed to delete the e:\cache folder. but never heard of it write protecting anything.

Backup and then reformat your E drive with evox and see if the problem still persists.

This did happen to me as well. When I upgraded my HDD. I just used a DVDRW and put the shadow.img file on there as well. So it built the drive with the shadowc already on it.
When it was done I could'nt modify anything on the virtual C. Even if I ftp'd in and deleted files they would be back if I refreshed.

I also just used a bios loader deleted it. Then ftp'd the img file back over and it worked fine again.

I'm guessing since the img file was placed on there using XboxHDM, and linux incorrectly terminates the FATX file structure this would effectivly write protect it?

Ldots wrote it, i don't think messaging will help because he's been gone for awhile. i thought we had gone over this before about not really being able to modify linux written files. burn your shadowc.img file to a cd-rw and copy it over after. that works for me...i know it's not quite as neat as an "all inclusive xboxhdm install" but sometimes you have to mess around to get things to work right...

FTPing it over is just as easy or easier IMO then even writting it to a disk. But then again having it on a disk may be better for modding other peoples.

I dunno if you allready know it but it is completely normal that you can't delete/move or do anything with the shadowc.img when it's active.
