Decyphring The Eeprom.bin File
« on: February 10, 2005, 05:40:00 PM »

Can anyone give me any tips on how to decypher a eeprom.bin file in a C++ program.

I assume that ldots knows because that would be required in the xboxHDM project.

I'm writing an app that will teach you how to put a SC FTP gamesave on the xbox. Guides you through using Evox's Backup and then retrieves the EEPROM file and THEN teaches the user to write down his IP address.

Then it moves into the area where you pick Dash, Apps, Etc... and hit go and it uses FTP to do every thing for you.

Supposed to be very n00b friendly... all I need is a way to figure out what VER of xbox they have. If its not easy or anything I will probably just include that and have them write it down and select it themselves on the FTP page... so

thanks... hopefully for the information that will come forth...

BTW: My program will contain no MS files at all... just a FTP program that copies directories... so this SHOULD be legal.... I think.... if not... then post it here and I will try to edit my post to make it so.

If it doesn't then you might wanna leave it to ppl who understand it..  The last thing we need is a badly written eeprom app..

Ok, I'll allow that, but can't you just read it out of hddinfo.txt..smile.gif

Actual version isn't discernable, but eeprom type obviosly is..  Since he isn't dumping it himself (reading it directly I mean) then there will most likely be a hddinfo.txt right beside the eeprom.bin, and the version is already decoded and printed to that file.. Read it out of the text file or fear the wrath of Occam..smile.gif
