I want to use XBMC as my dashboard. Am I right in thinking that I can just erase what's in E:\dashboard and put XBMC in there (as long as the XBMC executable is named default.xbe that is)?

I am trying to copy Krayzie's installer 2.8 over to my mem card that came with action replay. I move it to mech assault, then to the mem card, but it says not enough space on the mem card. It is 8MB and I have formatted it. It says there are 498 blocks with 494 avail, even after formatting several times. The file says its 496 blocks. Anyone know if I am messing up or if a better, or bigger, mem card is needed to move this over.
Thanks

nm, I just reinstalled my other soft mod, cleaned up all the files with slayer's, and ftp'd the files over. Install Krayzies and everything is perfect.
Thanks Krayzie.

Can I use this installer?
I'm currently running a Matrix solderless chip and Evox, but I'd really like to try a softmod. I don't need any extra hard drive install stuff, as I just make Dvd backups of my originals. If this installer will work for me, are there any special instructions since I'm currently using the chip?
Thanx in advance.

Hi all, I've seen this question tossed around a bit, but I need a little clarification. I have Krayzie's2.7 with evoX. I recently bought an x2vga+. My m$dash is not keeping the settings changes I make for high-def. I had my friend bring his box over (2.7 with UnleashX) and I was able to get the high-def going. I found a thread about why these settings don't take, but I think my best bet would just be to replace evoX with Unleash. I see that I should replace the files in E:/dashboard. That would mean evox.ini, default.xbe and the skins folder need to go. Question: For simplicity, can I have that friend bring his box back over and ftp his dashboard folder to my pc, then to my box? Is it really that easy?

Well I got my box running unleash now, but the high-def settings still don't stay. Krayzie, I'm sorry to post about this in your thread, but the a/v forum isn't helping much. The only difference between my box and my friend's box is he selected unleashx upon installation of the softmod, whereas I changed to unleash from evoX. Otherwise our boxes are the same. Why would his settings keep and mine won't? Edit: It may be irrelevant, but I have a 250gig seagate loaded up with apps while he still has a stock hdd. I used xboxhdm to build my hdd from scratch.

I'm looking at the second option because I found no eeprom.bin in the shadowc directory, just the 500Mb image. Correct me if I'm wrong: to perform this task, I should delete everything in E: except TDATA and UDATA folders. I should leave C: alone and its ok to leave F: and G: full of stuff. Then apply the video settings in a semi-retail state, verify they stay, then reapply the softmod.

well that's probably becuz you deleted the save once and people should not do that. Then just delete everything on E besides tdata and udata and restore the C drive to stock. And make sure to put on a new save before you mod it again. And while your at it you could just as well use the Ndure save as it has some improvements over the uxe installer.

krayzie, you know the way your installers have a feature to restore the dash to stock using slayers disk, would it be possible for you to put on a feature whereby we can restore our HDDs to a backup we have on a disk.  For instance if we have 2 files on a disc called C and E then the app will replace C and E partitions on the HDD with those on the disc.  This would allow a quick way to return our drives to how we want if anything goes wrong, and also allow us to have a bit of a roll back feature, in case we did something we didnt like, we could just roll back.   Only an idea from a n00b.  You do make the best installers.
