Ude/xboxhdm 120+gig Hdd Possible?
« on: January 29, 2005, 10:05:00 AM »

I've softmodded a couple boxes, im using the newest UDE(not UXE) and xboxhdm v1.9. Im hotswapping to unlock and mod using lDots tools. My question is, is there any way xboxhdm can partition a drive to use more than 120 gigs? I have a 300gig hard drive I wanted to put in. Will it partition a g drive automatically when i "create the hdd from scratch" or is there something else I have to do. Is it even possible?

How big can the F: partition get? Is there any limitations, will it still function if lets say F: partition is 250+gig? If not, is there another program I can use to make a G: partition and still have it work with the UDE softmod?

doesn't the entire partion size thingy depend on the bios you use?

if you get your exploit to boot a bios of your choice, you can use a bios that supports LBA48. I used the metoo-m8plus 1.4.1. With evtool you can even create your own bios config and decide whether you want a F or a F and G partition (and other stuff).

But be careful, if you install a new bios and something goes wrong, your xbox will not boot to the dashboard and you will have to connect your hdd to the computer again to fix it.

Look whether you can configure your bios loader to boot a different bios when your DVD-tray is open. So you can safely test a new bios.

nkpatcher 10 and pbl-metoo both support 137+ gig hard drives. yes, it depends on the bios you use with pbl-metoo, but you can use evtool to change the bios settings (and make it use an F and a G drive). you'll need both F and G for the 300 gig hard drive. you could also use nkpatcher 10, the 67 version (which uses both F and G drives). then just format your F and G drives (you can use unleash x or scripts with evolution x to do that). i don't use any drives over 137 gigs though so i don't really have a ton of info on setting this up...

Well I used pblmetoo and evox m8 or whatever for a bios and it just partitioned one huge F: drive, made it 288gigs or so, and it seems to work fine, although I havent used nearly all of it yet...

sorry to rock your boat but i've been told (though haven't done it myself) that partitions over 260 gigs will start corrupting data once they get full.

like i said before....with your 300 gig hd, you need both an F and G drive
