the only way to boot the xbox with an unlocked drive is with a chip.

I havent tried booting an xbox from a game cd and launching an evox based exploit to lock it, but if I am not mistakin, the game checks to see if the HD lock is inabled (note, I said inabled, not locked).

I am 99% sure that you need a chip to boot an unlocked HD, or use xboxhdm to lock it and then to boot the xbox with your exploit.

Even if that was the case, the retail BIOS does require the hd to be locked to boot. and the retail bios kicks in way before the bios loader does.

Your HD has no eeprom. The eeprom which you are refering to is a CHIP inside your XBOX. EvoX and other utilities make a physical dump of this into a file called EEPROM.BIN.

Live info will not give you the correct locking key unless you have loaded your eeprom.bin.

Ok, this is the key that i wrote down (there was 24:r zero´s after):
A15DA1BD8DD359291B49ECE34A234A526240FC83

I guess that should be the "actual lock code"?
I got that from the "backup folder" Evox created for me and that number was in a txt file named something with hdd, anyways im 99% its the right key so i have no idea why this shit wont work :/ does it matter if u use large or small letters? or if i had all the zero´s after  ohmy.gif

Allright i was looking thru my old cd´s i dident find any copy of that eeprom file.

BUT! i found this, my HDDINFO file! yay thats must bee good right? cos that have the key for lock and unlock my harddrive? here is whats in it:

CODE
Disk Serial Number : "5JRBXD58
Disk Model Number  : "ST310014A

 ****PARTINFO****

HDD Key        :a1:5d:a1:bd:8d:d3:59:29
                     1b:49:ec:e3:4a:23:4a:52
                     62:40:fc:83:00:00:00:00
                     00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00

A15DA1BD8DD359291B49ECE34A234A526240FC83000000000000000000000000

Now u think problem solved? no, no, no its the same key i have been trying to lock with about 10 times it just wont work i get ERROR CODE 6 (Cant unlock harddrive) WTF! now i have been using this harddrive in my comp so i have disabled the security, in xboxhdm its says that drive IS closed BUT not security closed or something ..is this the porblem? how do i fix that or should i use small letters when typing password ..omg help me m freaking pissed right now

Are you positive that this belongs to your xbox?

If you are postive that it belongs to your xbox, and are positive you are typing the code correctly, then you will need a mod chip.

I used Evox at the menu u have a option "unlock harddrive" now that was to UNLOCK and its still the problem i want to LOCK it.

According to hdlock, the software its the key that are in the hddinfo.txt i should lock the drive with but it just wont work, can Evox have changed my "lock" code? cos i know that they set TEAMASEEMBLY as unlock code ..but i want it locked there are no option to acully lock with mster password only unlock  wink.gif

as long as the bios on the modchip is flashed with the proper bios (one that works with the chip), you will have no problems....just be carefull and flash the right bios. flashing an incorrect bios will kill the modchip.

actually, the modchip will come with a bios, called cromwell. BUT, you cant really do anything with it. you have to download the proper bios from the usual places, burn it to a cd/dvd (using the instructions that come with it) and flash it that way.

dont worry, as long as you follow the directions that come with it, and if you get lost you can always post questions in the apporiate forms. I dont know anything about modchips myself, except for the fact that in order for them to be used in the intention that you want to use it for, you need to reflash it with a different bios, and it can boot with an unlocked HD.
