I think you didn't quite get what the eeprom is .....
I'll try to explain it as simple as possible. Beware, I'm no tech guru, so it might get adjusted by the people that really know this stuf ...
- The eeprom is a chip on your motherboard which holds your xbox vital information. Among other stuff, it holds the (un)locking key for the hard disk.
- The info stored on this chip can be extracted and stored as a file. This file will be named eeprom.bin.
- The locking code for each xbox is unique, so you can only lock your harddrive with that specific key.
Krayzie's installer doesn't have 'an eeprom' or even an eeprom.bin file, so it can't be upgraded.
If you're modding your xbox with the standard hdd, you don't have to bother with locking at all. It will lock automatically.
If you're upgrading your harddisk, you need to lock that drive with the locking key from the eeprom the hdd goes into. It can be generated from the eeprom.bin file.
Some general pointers :
- Before any mod attempt, backup your eeprom and put the eeprom.bin file on your PC
- Read up on the relevant tutorials. Some useful links might be in my sig, check the pinned topics / xguides as well.
- Get Krayzie's 2.8 (xbins) (has a feature to backup your eeprom before modding)
