HOLY crap you are right, i am such an idiot, i spent 5 hrs trying to update the BIOS.  but what i did wrong.... was exactly what you said

Select Yes to use F drive.
OMG i thought i remember this option settings near the top of the menus.... but it was at the bottom.  everything works fine now.  You are right and i was wrong.  There was an option to turn on the F drive.  (as well as G:)

Thanks, if only i asked before trying to update my bios 5 hrs ago.  Thank you for you quick reply.

Alter your Evox.ini file to look like this then you will have added an option to format the F drive. Save an original of the evox file ftp and put it back that way you won't accidentally reformat your F drive.
Here is what it should look like.

Krazie, Thanks for the thread. It is very useful. Here I have a question.

I turned on G drive in Evox. It only shows 0 available space.
I used UDE(2) nkpecher
my xbox is 1.6
my HD is 250G.

F drive is ok with about 120G available. Is it because xboxhdm 1.9 only can build F: drive (option 4) but not G: drive? Is there some way that I can get the lost space in my HD back.

Thank you in advance.

Why does my xbox only diplays 137 gigs of space while I know my hd is much bigger
The bios or kernelpatcher you are using doesn't support lba-48 or you haven't turned on additional partitions isn your dash (G drive). If lba-48 is not supported you can upgrade the bios or kernel patcher. There are different ways to divide the additional space. Either all on F or 137 on F and the rest on G.

it could also be you have to reformat partititions

You can go live just fine. it's just that goin live by booting from a gamediscs is not recomended anymore altough some people claim to still do that every day. i don't use live so I can't say anything about it. There are still no definite answers to the live bannings.

Hey Guys,

I've been reading thru the forums and tutorials but I'm obviously missing something because I still can't get my gdrive to show up.  8 hours of searching and still nothing.

If anyone could provide a helping hand I'd really appreciate it.

I have a v1.6 XBOX.  I used the hotswap trick and xboxhdm 1.9 to get UXE installed on the retail drive.  From there I used xboxhdm to install and partion my 250 gig drive.

It's my understanding that UXE71 comes with nkpatcher which is why I can see that my kernal is at version 1.00.5838.01 (I'm hoping this version supports LBA48).  But The BIOS Version shown in the settings menu says Unknown.

Why isn't evox able to detect the BIOS version?  I'm guessing that this is the what is holding me back from seeing my G: drive.  I don't have PBL installed and I couldn't find any info on how to link that with the UXE.

I've already gone to the settings menu and told evox that it should look for the gdrive and i've added this to evox.ini to try to format it ...

Section "Install Menu"
{
Item "Install G Drive",@210
Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
}

[Action_10]
Info "Format G"
Warning "This will format your G drive"
Warning "Have a Backup!"
Progress "Formatting drive"

Format g:

But I still can't see the gdrive using boxplorer 0.96 (the f drive shows 123.408 free) and in the evox settings menu the free space on the g drive is 0.   Should I be formatting f instead?

Thanks in advance,
 - confused!

Not sure about the version of nkpatcher that is included with that package, but unless it is not v9 or higher, then LBA48 is not supported.

It can be configured to ways.

In 06 setup the F will take the rest of the drive from gig 9 - end of drive.

In 67 setup the F will take up gig 9 - gig 137, and G will take from gig 138 to the rest of the drive.

Those #'s repersent the partition the xbox see's then drive at, Partition 6 = F, 7 = G.

The same naming convention is also used with the BIOS file names, but if using NKPatcher, you dont have to worry about any BIOS files.

So if you prolly need to update your nkpatcher, then reformat the F to get all your space. A G drive is not really needed, unless your hard disk is over 300 gigs, (Sometimes data corruption can occur if the F is bigger than 250gigs, I never had a problem, but have read of some)

DaddyJ - I think you're right.

The UXE I had came with nkpatcher 8.

Unforunately foolish me thought I could just do the following and it would work
COPY C:\xboxdash.xbe (the evox dash) to c:\evoxdash.xbe (cuz in nkpatcher10, it says the default location to look for the dash would be evoxdash.xbe) and replace my nkpatcher with the new one.

WRONG.  I got error "21" ... back to restoring my new hard drive!

Thoughts on what I should have done?

ohmy.gif  Whut were you thinking, XboxDash.xbe is the special update.xbe that loads the fonts, then the fonts point to NKPatcher, then NKPatcher loads the evoxdash.xbe.

Normally this would be fine.

Hmm error 21, did the xboxdash.xbe still exist, usually error 21 is a result of un-signed code detected. Did you compile NKPatcher yourself, if so you need to -habibi signe it with xbedump.
If you didnt re-compile it, and used the one that was already compiled, then I'm turning back to the xboxdash.xbe, after you renamed it to evoxdash.xbe, was there another xboxdash.xbe present?

Hee hee, good learning experience!

I didn't rename C:\xboxdash.xbe to C:\evoxdash.xbe, I copied it to that name.  So both binaries are identical and exist in the same root folder.

I didn't recompile nkpatcher, I'm not sure how to do that.  But now that you mentioned it, I'll probably have to do that and point it to C:\fonts\dashboard\default.xbe (hopefully this is evox!)

by default it points to c:\evoxdash.xbe, and your saying this is the special update.xbe which is basically causing the error.

Replace the evoxdash.xbe with a real evox dash.
