"updating" Uxe
« on: December 26, 2004, 04:29:00 PM »

ok, im very tired atm, its pretty late, and im not at all experience with coding or such,
just trying to have fun.

i took the uxe package, put in nkpatcher 10, and updated nk apps, changed the line in nkpatcher to start the same default.xbe as old uxe, re-signed the file, made a clean image of a original C,

so i should now a have good softmod package with secure C for updates and such, for when i softmod xboxes..

of course i get error 21 when booting, i guess the nkpatcher dont work after i altered it. (yes, i used a texteditor and saved after, i crossed my fingers that it would work, even though i had in mind it wouldnt).

maybe someone can tell me what more to do?
i wanna try to do this to learn more about this.

---added--
hmm. its an hex-editor i should have used to alter i believe now..

since you edited nkp, you broke the sig, you need to re-sign it. and you used a text editor? wow. Are you refering to the souce or the xbe? if it was the source, then it needs recompiled and re-signed. if it was the xbe, you can just re-sign it.

it needs re-signed with xbedump

example

type this in a command prompt
xbedump nkpatcher.xbe -habibi

this will produce an out.xbe with will be the one you need to use.

i  have the auto signer tool.

but now i tested a clean UXE of the newest version, both  6.1 and 7.1 and both crash, so the error is somewhere else i think, since they SHOULD work when they are untouched.

even though it might also be an error in the nkpatcher10 file. tried it along with my old uxe, edited in hex, and signed with font, but it crashes then too..

poop..

ok. signed with habibi.
now i have checked every setting in hex, and it all should work.
now it at least doesnt frag, it just stops at the logo screen.

but i can see the shadow drive is working fine, when i boot it from recovery-cd when the chip isnt enabled.

i might be doing progress.
now i only need to figure out why it is stopping instead of  launching anything.

----edit--
hmm. 2:30am, im gonna check up more on it tomorrow...

if anyone want to/can check the files, i put my edited files up here
my uxe try

Try compiling your ernie file...I was getting hang also when I hex edited my ernie.xtf file.  I compiled it and it booted flawlessly. smile.gif

Ever heard the phrase 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it?' wink.gif  (ignore devz3ro's sig tongue.gif)

I suppose if you really want the new features like the shadow c and eeprom though... meh, whatever.
