Hello
This is my first post here. After reading the forum continuously for last 3 days. I have decided to go the softmod way. I just bought a brand new xbox yesterday and it has the following kernal and Dash
K: 1.00.5838.01
D: 1.00.5960.01
I want to use the hotswap method. I found the following Tutorial very easy to follow and if some one could please veryfi that it would work without a hitch with my version of Xbox if I follow it to the letter.
http://www.stonespnl.com/modules.php?name=...=showpage&pid=1Also, I dont know when the tutorial was made therefore do I need to update any files listed there.
Steps
1) Burn the ISO
Question Here: Why does the tutorial asks to EDIT "make-iso-win.bat" file?
2) Open the XBox & PC and connect both the chasis with Wire because, apperently there is big voltage difference and this way it is safer.
3)Pull the Ide cable out of the dvd drive of Xbox and boot. This will apperently give error 12 leave the Xbox HDD unlocked.
4)Put the ISO in the PC and boot, It will wait for the xbox HDD to be connected
5)Then switch the Ide cable from PC to Xbox HDD
6)Then xboxhdm will continue to boot
Question Here: Once I connect the xbox HDD to PC will it automatically go the screen where I have to type "UDE" WITHOUT me having to press any keys OR do I have to do something else in between?
7) Then I jus follow rest of the Tutorial
Questions Here:
-After xboxhdm backs up the C: drive of xbox, why does not it backup the EEPROM file isn't that one of the most important files.
-Also, will I have any problem if I "install a patched copy of the original dasboard"
-BIG QUESTION, why doesn't the tutorial talk about installing the FTP Program such as FlashXP, Isn't that needed to do pretty much everything else once the xbox is moded. This is really scary PLEASE HELP ME HERE.
8)Finally once xboxhdm says "All Done" I turn off the PC and Turn of the Xbox and Connect the ide cable back to xbox DVD drive and Xbox HDD. Then on the next boot xbox should boot on to the new dash.
Sorry for such a long post. But I just want to make sure about everything before I begin.
Thank you.
