Hot-swap Error 16
« on: December 22, 2004, 05:42:00 AM »

have done swaping many times but yesterday i fucked up.
I was stoned and didn't transfer the hhdpass before hot-swapping.
I hot-swapped and cloned to a new hdd, i used my pc power to power the xbox hdd and as far as i could see the cloning went solid
Upon reassembling both original and stock hd booted to a error 16 and didn't boot to dvd drive mechassult  :(
when booting to another stock i got a locked hd error but that was to be expected.

So i'm realy lost this time can somebody help me with this???????

Sounds like with the error 16, that there was some data loss/corruption?

lol: your own damn fault...  and why in heaven why did you HOTSWAP when you got mechassault

anyways... error 16 is a dashboard error so you should be able to correct it
you probably don't have all the necessary files in place...

Looks like you'll need to hotswap again (unless you've got eeprom.bin).  If you have a working softmod, try using a copy of it's c drive.  Or you can put uxe-complete on it.

Dude...  u will need the eeprom.bin or HDkey as text in order to lock the new drive (how did u expect it to boot?). And messing with the stock HD without backing up the eeprom is a damn shame.

Best bet would be to assemble the xbox stock, and unplug the DVD cable, this should boot the xbox to an error screen, but if ur lucky the HD is then unlocked by the BIOS already (since it initializes the HD first, then DVD, then boots error screen). The trick is thus to make the xbox get an error b4 it tries to boot from HD (relocking it).

Although i think this only works for versions 1.0 to 1.5

Yes Yes i''m dumb and ii shouldn't smoke so mutch when i fuck around with a xbox i know.

I was trying to place a larger hdd in the box with the cloned data.

I know i must lock my new hdd before placing it in a softmod xbox

But what is puzzeling me is that the new hd got a error 16 when it should have made a error 6 (not locked hd)

And why can't i boot to the dvd drive other error will allow this.

So is it possible that i demollished the xbox internals?
I'll try to recover my pass by hot swaping sober if this doesn't work do i have xtra option whin booting in a chiped box (boot from dvd)?

How could the data corruption ocur??

"thanx cio didn't know that will try it"

<_< what Version was the Xbox u upgrading? was it the same Kernel? 5713 cant use older dash files..so if its a 1.4 and up..u cant use old dash files thats in Slayers....if they same kernel...then i dont know..but it sounds to me..u might have 2 different xbox's...with different kernels..and a newer box cant use olddash versions...error 16..means ..is for xboxdash.xbe....maybe the supporting files is wrong...error 6 is lock
